Can't decide to go with either the Stradivarius or the Museu Chacara (for the cool Dali)

The Klimt theft, because it the museum just got knocked over like a 7-11 and the paintings weren't even insured because how you gonna replace a unique artifact?

Magdalen Goobers (Oilyrags), Monday, 16 February 2009 22:53 (seventeen years ago)

More to the point, there's a ton of missing art (Amber Room, etc.) that would make for a much bigger list.

Chris Barrus (Elvis Telecom), Monday, 16 February 2009 23:57 (seventeen years ago)

Huh... I didn't realize that the Giger's original painting for Brain Salad Surgery was stolen in 2005 and is still missing.

The problem is, when I hear art crime, I don't think of theft, I think of, like, buildings with Corinthian columns down one side and Ionic down the other. Or, you know, using non-Fibonacci proportions in a figure study or something.

Questionable Rock-Frog (Masonic Boom), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 00:16 (seventeen years ago)

Not on the list, but I'm all about the theft and recovery of Cellini's salt cellar.

Tina Fey's narrative bonsai (I DIED), Tuesday, 17 February 2009 00:26 (seventeen years ago)

that logo is an art crime unto itself
