As a newcomer to this board I've been reading the "this boards going to the dogs" threads with interest. Okay, if there were dream new posters on here, what would they be like, what would they say? Would they debate Dickens whilst beard stroking? Would they use the board to organise social gatherings? Would they harp on about the links between Pim and Slipknot? Regulars, oldies, goldies . . . whaddya' want? How can we serve?

I could do with someone to make me a cup of tea.

They would provoke fresh thoughts on the serious threads and be funny on the light threads. By the way, I don't share the general fear around here about trolls. The more the merrier. Rather a troll with an interesting, if provocative, opinion than someone who sounds like a Hallmark card.

If I had my way, all new people would be just like my friends, only less drunk.

Trolls don't have interesting opinions, by definition (the way I understand it, anyway).

they'd have strap on dildos, anuses for wings, and a long supply of hilarious tyales involving republican asswipes and fecal matter

That's a great phrase, Ally, that I'm now adopting. I wish everyone was like my friends only less drunk as a general point.

The two things I dislike a lot: a. being abusive and using namecalling b. people who come onto the board making sweeping statements like "You are all wrong, you can never understand the profundity of Elizabeth Wurtzel!" without really reading the thread in question or understanding what anyone had to say.

Anyone other than that would be fine with me.

I've never been so insulted in all my life.

gossip mongers, but only if the stories were extra amusing. And possibly lecherous about celebrites, Shayne Carter is not that great.
