I am cheerful and have a sense of humor. People usually like me just fine, but I can only take limited amounts of socializing before I run out of steam. This makes me a classic introvert-with-decent-social-skills.

My mother once told me about the time when she was driving back from somewhere in a Ford Popular with some friends, and the car's headlights were so dim that they had to hold a flashlight out of the window.

And I had a similar experience in a Ford Fiesta Popular on the way back from Brighton, except no-one had a flashlight and we were nervously joking that we were all going to die while bombing down a packed dual carriageway in the pouring rain listening to "Ace of Spades" through one speaker.

once i was so popular, i shot a guy for no reason, and no one cared, in fact, they made up reasons, for why the guy had to be shot

I'm throwing a party at the weekend so I will have a quantified answer to this question in a few days time. And even if I'm disappointed and no one turns up I will still click 'extremely popular' in a fit of feigned arrogance.

by forgettable i mean like, i think people think i'm aight, but a lot of times it's like 'are you going to xxx?' and i'm like 'uh no bc this is the first i've heard of it!' or ppl will say 'oh we had a great time at xxx' and i'm like 'jeez guys thanks for inviting me!'

i like to bring weird groups of people totgether, not romantically, just socially, sometimes thats the most fun, combining friends from a lot of different places

yah i really like this both as a host and a guest. i love going to parties of friends-of-friends where you only know a few ppl its kind of liberating esp in comparison to parties where you already know everyone

i'm kind of the exact opposite. i don't hate the glad-handing stuff about pr - which is good becuz it's a big part of my job - but i always feel deeply anxious about client stuff or talking to analysts because it feels like something is at stake. whereas i kinda dont care what someone's new gf thinks of me

i feel more anxious calling journalists than talking to clients

probably because i like the journalists more than the clients, for the most part

also im 9 months out of college at a bottom-rung position at a job i dont plan to stay in very long so not a lot is at stake for me

absolutely. there is such thrill in the uncharted menagerie.

otoh, sometimes a gathering of about 4 firm friends is just as enjoyable. good to mix these sorts of meetings up.

So frequently when I go to parties with different groups of people who're supposed to have their minds blown by each other, it's a dismal fail. I like the IDEA of my friends all liking each other but honestly, I would have to hand-pick individuals to be introduced because parties are just not the place. Also, a lot of my friends are haters, but that's to be expected.

i wouldnt invite a bunch of difft friend groups for a tea party or anything for the reasons laurel mentions but for a nighttime small-scale rager its the best when everyone gets wasted and becomes best friends

u know what tho it really depends, i hate calling journalists abt some of our clients who i think are basically worthless and dont feel comfortable "selling," and i like meeting new people at parties when i feel like i bring something to the table... mostly i just hate putting myself out there when i feel like i dont have anything to back it up, whether its a good sellable story/product/client or a body of knowledge or sense of humor that contributes to shit

^^ this. i don't like large parties, i get anxious around large groups of ppl i don't know, i get anxious meeting new ppl... but i'm essentially pretty good at being friendly/getting conversation going when i'm dealing with customers, and it's why i've done 'well' at being a waitress/retailperson

the key to introducing friends from different circles is to keep the gathering small and force interaction -- sit-down dinners are really good for this, since people can't huddle in their own groups of compatriots. but sometimes you just have a birthday and everyone shows up and the chemistry just works and that is the magical moment when you know for sure that you are totally popular

i love introducing different groups of friends - true that people don't always hit it off but this rarely has a negative impact on me, and more often the results are A+ and everyone's social circle increases

i think my deal is that i enjoy talking to anyone, especially if they're particularly enthusiastic about their interests, or impulsive with their conversation, and that i'm extroverted enough to basically approach people without trepidation. generally i've been pretty popular among real-life circles for these reasons...i've certainly been very widely-known at school, university etc.

also, here's hoping that after my erykah conversion lex actually says hello to me next time ;-)

It is!!! I have basically no visitors, and this is exactly the way I want it (usually). I'm surprised to find out there there are people who want lots of people in their home all the time.
