OK, ILX: what is this on my T-shirt?

No, it's not a suspicious stain. It's this:

A pal brought it back about 18 months ago from somewhere Scandinavian or maybe north-European (sorry, I genuinely can't remember). I wear it every so often; once in a while, someone asks what the fuck it's about and I have to say, sorry, no idea.

So. Anyone shed any light?

its a monster shopping for a little kid to eat

max, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:15 (seventeen years ago)

monsters eat little kids

max, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:15 (seventeen years ago)

so monster grocery stores have little kids in them

max, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

and then the monsters put the little kid in the shopping carts when they go food shopping

max, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

and then they take the little kids home after the pay for them, and eat them

max, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

adorable tshirt

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:17 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe the monster is a nanny and is running errands and put the kid in the shopping cart because kids love riding in shopping carts.

home of the vain (Jenny), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe it's not a monster. Maybe it's a giant black pickle.

home of the vain (Jenny), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

OMG she's right, hence the purse

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

xp

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:21 (seventeen years ago)

Hahaha Surmounter WTF, the purse does not really confirm either interpretation

nabisco, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:22 (seventeen years ago)

lol nannies have purses!!

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:23 (seventeen years ago)

Check threadless. looks like one of theirs.

What a complex t-shirt!

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

Umm Surmounter presumably monsters who went to grocery stores that sold children would have purses too, no?

P.S. The kid's smile immediately made me think of a monster taking a kid shopping, but the "monster shops for child for dinner" interpretation is more fun and interesting

nabisco, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:24 (seventeen years ago)

ohhh i don't know if monsters who sold kids would carry around purses, nabisco! that's pure speculation. otoh, nannies just have purses, i mean come on

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:25 (seventeen years ago)

when did you turn into burt?

nabisco, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

altho the monster is kind of looking at the kid with hunger

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

is it possible that it's a. . . monster nanny?

Mr. Que, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:26 (seventeen years ago)

yeah i think that may be it! like she loves the kid and all, wants to take care of the kid, but she has to suppress the urge to eat it

Surmounter, Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:27 (seventeen years ago)

I approve this monster shopping for child dinner message. Cut film to vent.

Do not microwave at all because you like your baby raw.

if the monster is buying a child to eat for dinner, it needs to have money to pay for it, hence the purse. children are not free, jeez people.

I like this one, with all of the internal conflict it entails.

home of the vain (Jenny), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:29 (seventeen years ago)

I would bet that's how a lot of nannies and parents feel about their children.

home of the vain (Jenny), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:30 (seventeen years ago)

Surmounter, why are you so sure that the monster is a "she"?

That looks like a manbag to me.

I get a lady vibe off the purse, but it could be a manster with a penchant for women's accessories. It could also be a transter or genderqueer monster. We shouldn't be so quick to adhere to binary gender norms.

home of the vain (Jenny), Thursday, 19 February 2009 22:32 (seventeen years ago)

monsters don't have genitals

I think.

I think it's about how every childish indie chick just wants a big strong protective gay man who will push them around in a shopping cart instead of a real boyfriend.
