Watched Hull KR get beat by a sloppy Leeds side last night that never really fired until the last maybe 5 minutes and still brushed them aside without breaking sweat. Don't know how many ILX proper rugby fans there are other than me and the other Potato. But hey ho, a thread is needed I think.

King Boiled Potato (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 February 2009 14:20 (seventeen years ago)

Incidentally King Boy, what do you think of the chances of Manly ending your on-going WCC losing streak?

King Boiled Potato (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 February 2009 14:23 (seventeen years ago)

Like I give a shit, I grew up in Australian Rules country, son.

www.morrissey-cock.com (King Boy Pato), Saturday, 21 February 2009 17:27 (seventeen years ago)

More like Australian No Rules amirite?

King Boiled Potato (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 21 February 2009 19:02 (seventeen years ago)

Er, not exactly. Do your research!

I will come back to Rugby League if Russell Crowe starts giving out inspirational speeches to the Rabbitohs at the start of South Sydney games.

My dad thinks he wants to see some rugby when he & my mom come for a visit this Friday (they're coming for a week). Except I'm pretty sure he doesn't really know a thing about rugby. How would a day at Adams Park for Wasps v Irish be for a total newcomer?

f f murray abraham (G00blar), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 23:17 (seventeen years ago)

Er, I think you're in the wrong thread for that. Search for "repressed middle to upper class homosexuality".

17-year-old girls from Manly properly sexually assaulted too, I hear.

I hear that Russell Crowe is to give a speech regarding his thoughts on the Manly incident tonight. Can't wait. Sydney is seriously in meltdown over all this.

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 09:49 (sixteen years ago)

Tbqh, I don't know what's happening in the NRL right now apart from the cavalcade of sexual assaults.

Come Said The King Boy Pato (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 10:05 (sixteen years ago)

That does seem to be keeping those guys busy, yes.

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 10:09 (sixteen years ago)

Speaking of all that, I did sleep with a girl a few weeks ago who said that she was "from near Hull but NOT Hull". I think she was a League fan.

Come Said The King Boy Pato (King Boy Pato), Wednesday, 13 May 2009 10:26 (sixteen years ago)

Near Hull = either one of the posho 'burbs that like to pretend they're not in Hull like Swanland or Hessle or sump'n, or one of the East Yorkshire villages untouched by 20th century civilisation like Market Weighton or Wetwang.

The Queensland Origin star and Manly's Brett Stewart were the faces of the campaign filmed in the offseason, Inglis promoted to top billing in March when Stewart was charged with sexual assault.

The NRL re-worked the $1.5 million campaign to remove Stewart from the advertising and focus entirely on Inglis.

tbh sheets (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:19 (sixteen years ago)

After the Bunnies scored about five tries or so, the big screens cut to a shot of Rusty Crowe in his executive suite and HE STILL WASN'T SMILING. Even after the last try, the cut to him giving out a high five BUT NO HIGH FIVE. Dude has attitude issues for an Oscar winner.

King Boy on Parole (King Boy Pato), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:22 (sixteen years ago)

Challenge Cup final this afternoon between Giants of the sport Huddersfield and Warrington. Pretty sad BBC trailers quoting a load of bollocksy statistics about how many times the average centre runs up and down the pitch during a match or something, presumably intended to persuade pig-ignorant southerners and assorted middle management types that they should give proper Rugby a spin. I don't think it'll work, I certainly can't be arsed to watch this one. Mind you I'm sulking cos Hull have had such an appalling season.

tbh sheets (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:26 (sixteen years ago)

What's wrong with Huddersfield??

King Boy on Parole (King Boy Pato), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:33 (sixteen years ago)

There's nothing wrong with them it's just that both these sides just inspire the emotion "oh it's Huddersfield and Warrington." Nothing to hate or cheer or give a flying one about really.

tbh sheets (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:35 (sixteen years ago)

Warrington, I'll give you that. But Huddersfield have massive potential if they can get a NRL-esque scandal or two going on.

King Boy on Parole (King Boy Pato), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:37 (sixteen years ago)

Sexual assault shenanigans are looked down on by the RFL, we prefer to stick to a good old-fashioned wife beating HI DERE COOKIE

tbh sheets (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 29 August 2009 13:41 (sixteen years ago)

Shame that Warrington won, I guess.

King Boy on Parole (King Boy Pato), Sunday, 30 August 2009 10:51 (sixteen years ago)

40,000+ people turned up for a NRL game today!!

But fair enough, Hazem El Masri managing to play League for fourteen seasons without sinking any schooners, abusing women or touching disco biscuits is quite the achievement.

St Helens clobbering Salford, wow.

Ste, Sunday, 16 February 2025 13:47 (one year ago)

There's a story behind it though. Salford put out a team of reserve players because they're in some kind of dispute with the RFL over a salary cap.

Please play Lou Reed's irritating guitar sounds (Tom D.), Sunday, 16 February 2025 13:51 (one year ago)

yeah there's debate about whether it was a deliberate protest, Salford are also in limbo between owners - still a pretty shameful/compelling match tho. i hate Saints btw

I don't know his name but the Hudds Giants manager has a very gruff and croaky voice that for me is completely synonymous with Rugby League and it cracks me up when I catch him on local radio. I used to know a 70's RL star player called Mick who was always in the bookies, his nickname was Croaky!

Then I was park the other week and local RL side The Trojans were doing training and I heard the coach yelling in that croaky gruff voice "We're not here for a chinwag you set of cunts, we are here to do sets. Concentrate on the sets you fucking cunts!" It was a classic!
