― class act, thanks bro (tehresa), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 06:27 (seventeen years ago)
given the concentration of quality peeps in the SEAWA/PRTLND area, i would love to, but am business owner type in "new economy" so probably pretty chained to home for march/forever.
eventually though. K is a proud lewis and clark grad, so i will be pacific northwesting some time in the near future, full guarantee.
― vaginary & western (jjjusten), Wednesday, 25 February 2009 06:36 (seventeen years ago)

not 100% on portland days yet!
let's talk about seattle. i am bored at work.
― yur twit (tehresa), Monday, 2 March 2009 21:53 (seventeen years ago)
anyone?fun facts?i need to study.
― yur twit (tehresa), Monday, 2 March 2009 22:05 (seventeen years ago)
I wish I was bored at work today.
You need to take a ferry to either Bremerton or Bainbridge Island. There's more to do on the Bainbridge Island side, but the trip to Bremerton is longer and prettier. Also, Bremerton->Seattle at dawn is awesome, especially if it's near full moon, and the clouds break.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 02:52 (seventeen years ago)
Oh yeah, this is from downtown Seattle (forgot to mention that.) Alaskan Wy and Columbia St. For passengers or bikers, I think you only pay one way, and it was around $7(?) last time I went. Always totally worth it, even if it's grey.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 02:54 (seventeen years ago)
And these are the state ferries i.e. actual public transit. These aren't tourist boats, technically, although they happen to work as such very well! The WA State Ferry system is so underrated, even when things suck.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 02:56 (seventeen years ago)
This is the part of the thread where gabbneb would offer about 7 different itineries and you'd have to take made notes and probably need mad cash. To be honest, I kinda miss gabb's waxing Washington State. :-/
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 02:57 (seventeen years ago)
i stayed on bainbridge last time i went to seattle (10+ years ago). best view of the city! so awesome. i would like to go for a ferry ride even though i have already done this just because it would be neat.
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 02:59 (seventeen years ago)
gabb actually sent me some great suggestions!
Hey, whenever I go to NYC, i ALWAYS GO TO SPUMONI GARDENS. I never miss doing it, even if I sacrifice doing something new. Sometimes, you gotta.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 03:00 (seventeen years ago)
btw i might have said this already but fap on the 21st
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 03:01 (seventeen years ago)
what should we do?
go make fun of anton newcombe in capitol hill
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 03:02 (seventeen years ago)
depends where you want to eat. There's always a place to get booze in any Seattle neighborhood pretty much, so it depends on where dinner is. the higgs is particular about beer places though. i don't drink, so I just want good grub.
Tamarind Tree is a favorite spot... it's a trendy Vietnamese place, and they pretty much can make anyone happy, vegan or fleshie. That place is awesome.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 03:05 (seventeen years ago)
vietnamese is fun! i don't have it enough. i aim for epic fap so whatever that entails, bring it!
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 03:27 (seventeen years ago)
Do you need more seattle suggestions? I can provide a handful or two in an emergency.
Olympic Sculpture park = awesome. free. well worth doing. the park that runs north from it along the water is wonderful if i still was out there i'd loan you my dog to do that walk... we used to LOVE hiking all the way up the bike trail towards magnolia.
hmm... if you like photography, kerry park on Queen Anne and Volunteer Park on Capitol hill are awesome for taking photos of the city.
― lyra, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 16:26 (seventeen years ago)
aw i would love to walk your dog through a park! maybe i will go anyway and pretend i have a dog. i like dogs. also want to go to kubota gardens.
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 16:32 (seventeen years ago)
Is Archie McPhee still around?
― kingfish, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 16:37 (seventeen years ago)
Looks like
http://www.mcphee.com/
although the rumor is they're moving to 45th and Stone Way in Wallingford from their old Ballard location.
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 16:40 (seventeen years ago)
Kubota is great also, although I stupidly never went until I'd moved to the east coast & was back visiting once.
this is my dog, my best friend, and his dog, in myrtle edwards- which is the park with the dog path that runs north from the olympic sculpture park:

Are you taking the train between seattle & portland? it's a really nice ride- if you buy tickets more than 2 weeks out, it's also usually really cheap.
― lyra, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:00 (seventeen years ago)
I have more coupons for Buy One Amtrak Cascades Ride, Get One Free than I can use this year, so if you need one, let me know. Hopefully I can just send over the coupon ID in some form, and you could book online. Amtrak Cascades isnt the fastest way between Portland and Seattle, but it's the swankiest. If you have a laptop or gadget that needs ane electrical outlet, each seating area contains one outlet per seating area.
Just make sure from Portland and Seattle you DO NOT TAKE THE COASTAL STARLIGHT TRAIN! This is the train that runs from L.A. to Seattle. By the time it reaches Portland, it's usually 6-7 hours late on the average. (Seattle to Portland on the Coastal Starlight is fine though, as the train starts in Seattle, so it will be far more on time.)
― System Jr. (Mackro Mackro), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:32 (seventeen years ago)
What he said there. Also, the dude giving the safety lecture on video at the start of the Cascades ride is Mr. Smooth.
― Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 17:38 (seventeen years ago)
excellent tips. woah i should really get planning on the portland end! i am just over 2 weeks out now!
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 18:10 (seventeen years ago)
also lyra your dog is <3 <3 <3
Wah. Last time (a month or two ago) I tried to take the Coastal Starlight from Seattle, they canceled the train and I didn't get to Olympia until 3 hours after I was supposed to, in which time I had important stuff I was supposed to be doing.
― The Reverend (rev), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 18:30 (seventeen years ago)
When you get to portland, we'll take you to the Alibi for proper neon tiki drunkening
― kingfish, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 18:38 (seventeen years ago)
i don't know what that means but wow
― yur twit (tehresa), Tuesday, 3 March 2009 20:15 (seventeen years ago)
man, i'm jealous. i seriously need to get out there again soon.
Seattle good food: the macaroons and croissants at le panier in pike place market, COFFEE (oh god, i really miss cafe ladro and uptown... sigh...); salumi in pioneer square for sandwiches
pdx good food: mio gelato on NW 11th... is the place with the massive doughnuts still open?
― lyra, Tuesday, 3 March 2009 21:58 (seventeen years ago)
Rah the tza -- seeya next time I visit there!

Get your ORCA here for the bus/lt rail: http://www.orcacard.comThey are free right now (unloaded), will cost $5 after the intro period.
Now is not the season for depression, 29 days of no rain and counting.
― Jaq, Thursday, 18 June 2009 04:43 (sixteen years ago)
Thanks! That card looks neat. Do drivers ever actually look at your transfer to make sure it's valid?
― tehresa, Thursday, 18 June 2009 23:25 (sixteen years ago)
Also lol @ lady on bus talking about someone findng a dead body outside the 1nt1m4n! Maybe this is what they get for not calling me back in a timely manner. Ok maybe it is not lol but O_o
― tehresa, Thursday, 18 June 2009 23:27 (sixteen years ago)
Oh yikes to dead people at the Center! though it probably happens more than you'd think - one of the city's main emergency housing shelters is there.
Sound Transit drivers seem to check transfers more so than Metro drivers, probably because Metro transfers are only worth $2 on ST buses no matter what fare you paid on Metro.
Once the ORCAs are fully in place, no more paper transfers ;_;
― Jaq, Thursday, 18 June 2009 23:33 (sixteen years ago)
Yes I will get this orca soon! Those machines are pretty. Also wau at cushy bus seats.

Also even though I shouldn't spend any extra $ til I get a job I decided this week is my excuse to go out a few times until my cooking utensils arrive so if anyone wants to... go out somewhere or do things this weekend, let me know!

ooh xpost - i don't know! as far as drinks, jamie boudreau is opening a new bar but the opening date, while i know it will be very soon, has not yet been announced. so.. if it is open, maybe canon. if not... sun liquor? or really anywhere. foodwise i don't know! i'm going to the flying fish w/ work ppl on thurs... haven't thought about anything else. so many choices! i would not be opposed to maneki (man, i miss that place) but i also wouldn't mind trying something new.
what is up in seattle these days? anything interesting i should know about? i'm trying to figure out what i want to do (if i had a choice: everything possible!).
― tehresa, Monday, 5 September 2011 01:26 (fourteen years ago)

Pitch-in bbq fap at Jaq's house on Saturday evening around 7 pm! We'll provide hot links, salmon burgers, black bean burgers, veggie dogs + condiments/plates/cups/utensils + carnivore and vegetarian grill space. And a pitcher or two of sangria. email me at isthatpie-wp @ yahoo(dot)com for address/directions. If you have your own lawn chair, that'd be good to bring - otherwise blankets on the lawn under the apple tree.
― Jaq, Wednesday, 7 September 2011 15:47 (fourteen years ago)
