damn. RIP. it's a shame she spent so long playing & being associated with dour pauline when she seemed so amusing whenever you saw her on TV being herself.

I remember her from the Dad's Army days as Walker's girlfriend and of course as Mrs Slocum's sidekick, always there to add emphasise to any of the fine double entendres coming her way.

:-( Oh gosh, she was such a lovely lady.

The first series of eastenders coincided with the last series of "Are you being served" and/or it's spinoff.
So, she was the frowny housewife and the dolly bird at the same time. For a while.
Oh, and she was on the BBC Radio "Just a minute" et al, and held her own in such "intellectual company" as Clemenet, Williams and etc.

i think she may have been in one episode. She was Joe Walkers girlfriend in Dads Army in a few episodes.

She was always known as a comedy actress until Eastenders.
IT'S RINGAROUND TIME
Comedian Ronnie Corbett said Richard's work would remain as a lasting tribute to her."What a career she had, from even before Are You Being Served?," he said."I'm very sorry to hear she's gone."Sir Terry Wogan said the star would be remembered as one of the greats of British television."In the 60s and 70s, she was the queen of the sitcom and I'm sorry to hear she's gone."Veteran actress, June Whitfield, said of Richard: "She was always delightful."I'm very, very sorry. I did not work with Wendy. We met at dos. It's very sad."Maureen Lipman added: "She seemed like a really feisty woman."I'm very sorry. She was a very familiar face on our TV screens and too young to go."Chris Tarrant said the death was "awful news".

"We met at dos".
Strange to think Mollie Sugden outlived her.
