Classic! Politics aside (which I know is difficult), the man has a relaxed cool that Bush will never possess.

Clinton farts and shouts:"Whoop there it is!"
Dud.

1. Anyone who doesn't like Clinton, there are plenty of like-minded folk on the GOVERNMENT OF THE USA board. It's true! They all detest him!

2. Do we get a Clintons thread category now?

3. Yeah, great picture.

4. 'Warm, wary welcome'??

Why is harlem happy abotu this? His first choice was the richest place he could find and when there was outcry he choose their crappy town. Allot of harlem residents were pissed becasue they were worried the area will become getrified and they will have to move out of there. Interesting idea. "Keep our neighboorhood crappy!!!"

Mike:

Why would you want your neighborhood to get nicer if it means you won't be able to pay your rent and will be forced to move to some other crappy neighborhood? If you don't have money, you'll be living in a crappy neighborhood either way: might as well be one with a history, one you have ties to, and one that doesn't involve moving expenses.

I guess I See your point nits. BUt it seemed ironic that clinton authorised puttin gmoney into their neighboorhood to fix it up and then when he comes to live there they are all "get out!"

Anybody see the Daily Show last nite? Video from this event and Clinton says "when I was young, I dreamed of sounding like Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald." Cut back to Jon Stewart, whose jaw is on floor. It was a slightly fatuous thing to say maybe, and my expectation was of a merciless slashing courtesy J. Stewart Esq. but he finally goes "is that guy great or WHAT? Remember Gore? Trying to clap naturally?"

Picture not classic or dud, merely apochryphal. Did everyone manage to see those 'exit interviews' BC gave to magazines like Rolling Stone and Talk? Although I do kind of subscribe to the 'whoever's elected, it's a bloody politician' line of thinking, I actually LIKED having a Prez who didn't seem fussed about speaking to people not from his peer group/ background, who'd read something other than White Papers and of course the whole Rhodes Scholar thing scared the piss out of his political adversaries. Offices in Harlem not a bad thing as gentrification of Grand Concourse area well under way ALREADY.

Best friend from school was a Presidential intern during Bush I years (not in the White House; there are 400 PIs taken up every two years and they win places all over Washington after going through rigourous selection process which isn't like Lewinsky's daddy making a few phone calls) and she reported George the First had mistress installed at/near White House so Republicans were fighting Monicagate from faux moral high ground, surprise surprise (her friend WAS working in WH). She has met Clinton a few times (getting awards, at functions eg. space shuttle launches) and the guy remembers names and details like proper human being with actual manners facility. Her pet name for him is the Empathy Machine.

I cannot wait for the book he writes because it may be one of the few political memoirs with actual literary merit.
