Hello everyone - just thought I would say hello from Kyoto. I,m off to Hiroshima tomorrow having seen some of the central highlands and got very very pissed and jetlagged the other night. Except for the springing up of incongruous footie stadiums and the increased security at the airport (so increased they lost my bags) everything has been awful jolly so far.

Was Emma,s birthday good?

was my mum right? do they all have small buttocks?

Pete you mentalist why did you hide my present in the SALAD SPINNER of all places? My birthday was grebt, the boys sang Centerfold as a tribute to you.

Have fun & love to Caz.

Hello, Pete! I hope you're enjoying Hiroshima. My officemate loved Hiroshima-ken and misses it.

You're a football hooligan, aren't you? ; p Every night there's a "news" story with interesting video footage on local tv about your lot! ; p

I emailed your soas.ac.uk account, but I believe I received an automated "vacation" message. I hope to have a pint with you in Tokyo on Thursday or Saturday, if you're game. Unfortunately, being new to Japan, I can't recommend any place in Tokyo to meet.

Sorry about my non-communication last week, Melinda.

If you want me to take you and anyone else who's in Tokyo to the legendary Office for the Momus Tokyo booze-up experience, we can do an ILE Tokyo meet-up thing there on Thursday night.

I'll meet you by exit 3 (top of steps, street level) of the Gaienmae subway station, which is on the Ginza / Honzomon lines. At 9pm?

Momus, Monday, 20 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

That's okay, Momus. I was thinking that you didn't want to hang around podgy fans from ILE, but I'm wrong!

Unfortunately, I have made plans to go to dinner and then the theatre on Thursday night. Saturday would be better for me. But don't let that stop you from meeting up with Pete or any other ILE person on Thursday.

--------------------- On the old thread I posted:

Thursday afternoon is possible, but Saturday afternoon/evening would be better. I have an appointment on Thursday morning that could last until about 1pm. Then I plan to meet some friends for dinner and see a British production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" later on.

So, I guess no one wants to go to the Shiseido Cosmetic Garden with me. Boohoo. I will go by myself and scare away all the pretty breads with my ugly face and depressing talk. No, wait a minute, that's Kogepan's line. ---------------------------

I get in late-ish on Thursday night so that might not be possible for me either. I'll give it a go though. Sat or Sun evening is probably do-able. I'll send private e-mails once I am in Tokyo and a wee bit more settled.

Hiroshima is astonishing.

Kyoto is getting a bit sticky.

Emma, I assumed (rightly?) that the salad spinner was not going to get any use in the one day between me leaving and your birthday.

Pete, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Have sent bopth of you e-mails using cunning new address. Hopefully see you in the next couple of days.

Pete, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Should have told me you were going to Hiroshima ken, sigh, its astonishing how many people from New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are there.
