A Life Less Ordinary is up there with A Fish Called Wanda as one of the most unwatchable films I've ever sat through the first 30 minutes of, and then switched off.

A Fish Called Wanda is a mess of a film.

I remember A Life Less Ordinary being extraordinarily, incredibly bad.

It was better than The Beach.

I wouldn't even watch that one, though. A Life Less Ordinary at least looked promising to me when I was drunk and had HBO.

trainspotting, although i dig 28 Days Later and Sunshine, also think that Millions is pretty great kids' movie.

Millions is pretty great as a kids' movie. It falls a little short as a grown-ups' movie and it's too long probly. Like Shallow Grave and Trainspotting a lot, the latter in particular suffers more dislike for its ubiquity as a student halls poster than its faults as a movie. Remember quite enjoying Life Less Ordinary the one time I saw it. The Morse Gets On One episode was weak, but not really cos of the direction. Masonic one was okay I think. Haven't really had the desire to watch the others. Sunshine must be better than the Doctor Who ep. that ripped it I guess.

have only seen 3.. thought Trainspotting was overrated, Sunshine underrated (would get my vote, if i would vote at all) and Millions (why did i watch it anyway) was cute, but would've expected more things from the premisse.

I've made peace with the Pinbacker character and that part of the story. It wasn't a path for the film to find its ending, but since Sunshine was a complete homage to golden era sci-fi, there had to be a villain.

of the 4 I've seen, 28DL.

I got all contorted over the Sunshine monster as much as anyone yet it's still the only film of his I have any desire to revisit.

Hm yes, I may have overstated my case a little. I thought di Caprio was fine in The Beach, and I liked the locations. It does have the worst ending I have ever seen though - I'm not backtracking on that

it was funny at the time but every time I've tried to watch it over the past ten years I've barely cracked a smile. The score is really overbearing and awful, for one thing.

Th Overcomplicated Dumbass Thriller is the plague of current Anglo-American commercial cinema.

i dug it. tonewise it was pretty much what i wanted from a goofy twisty psychosexual thriller

psyched to see it.

i think i would have voted for 'sunshine' in this poll (maybe i did?) it was kind of exactly what i want to get out of big-budget sci-fi these days.

boyle's style seems like it should drive me crazy, all the constant advertisement-ish energy, but he makes it work imo. maybe it's cuz he has a real instinct for emotion and storytelling

i have yet to see a boyle flick i don't like, i will even mildly stan for 'millions'. but that probably comes from avoiding slumdog mill, LLO, and the beach.

i've seen most but not all of his more well-known films (slumdog millionaire, trainspotting, 28 days later, 127 hours, shallow grave, sunshine and a chunk of millions). with the exception of sunshine, which i hated, they're all good to great. hyper-stylized in a manner that i might otherwise find oppressive, but h4a otm: he knows now to tell a story and generate an emotional response. trance sounds pretty cool, tbh. love twisty-turny "what's really going on?" psychothrillers.
