Sometimes love isn't enough

I really hate that phrase.

i guess i get the phrase tho, even tho it's sorta overused

altho i usually tend to disagree. it's like, if ya both love each other, then suck it up and figure it out!

it's a fine line. even the best relationships involve turmoil, but you have to know what's right and what isn't.

I've been lucky: no one I know has used this purportedly awful line.

eh, she didn't leave me. Nor did she say it to me. Nor does it relate to my current relationship.

But it still sucks.

Hate the phrase or not, it is true. Love can take you most of the way there, but it can't do all the work all the time.

the problem with the phrase isn't so much that it's untrue -- it's just an overly poetic way of stating a problem that isn't as simple as that most of the time.

i think it can also be used as a cop out/easy exit for people who don't want to deal with, like you said, the fact that even the greatest things can have some turmoil. perfection is elusive and it's naive to think anything can be 100% perfect all the time.

The fault is not in our stars but in ourselves. If someone wants an excuse, they'll find one. If the words get misused by someone looking for an easy out, hating the phrase seems misdirected.

if you say 'sometimes love isn't enough' then are you not ready for love? lol.

phrases that hinge on words like "love" are usually pretty annoying ime
