Kennedy and the moon

Before he made his big speech about Americans landing on the moon by the end of the decade, Kennedy had a discussion with advisers at which he was quoted as saying something along the lines of "We've got to pull our finger out or else the first man on the moon will be called Sergei". Can anyone point me in the direction of the actual quote?

I fail to see what I would rhetorical advantage I would gain by posing this question. I just want to know the answer.

"I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to earth."

Address to joint sesion of Congress (May 25, 1961)

I've just realised that this is not what you're looking for. Oh well, it's more helpful than a big can of coffee.

That's not what rhetorical means.

I'm afraid I think Suchin is a dud. I tried v hard to like her but her "perky!" and "friendly!" and "happy!" personality not only get in the way of her news-reporting skills where she should be level-headed and objective (I can imagine her giving any news, even bad news like of someone's fatal stabbing, with a "it's magical!! vitamins! jazzercize is grebt!!" slappy-happy-attitde) but also deter her from coming across like a 3-rd dimensional person, you know, like, uhhh Serena Atchulspelledwrong (who's dud for other reasons.) Um. Anyway.

Yeah, we need an oriental hottie who speaks no english.
I nominate Atsuko Yamano to take Kurt Loders place.

Channel One held a mock presidential election called OneVote on October 19th and 20th, 2004. This was the third such mock election in the program's history. There was no OneVote election in 1996.

1992
The initial vote in 1992 had 3,400,000 participants. Bill Clinton won the 1992 OneVote, garnering 43% of the vote. George H.W. Bush got 27%, with independent Ross Perot getting 24% of the vote.

Actual election result: Clinton won, Bush finished second, Perot finished third. OneVote was correct.

2000
When OneVote returned in 2000, 878,000 students participated and "elected" George W. Bush to the Presidency with nearly 60% of the vote. Al Gore, the Democratic challenger, finished a distant second.

Actual election result: Bush lost the popular vote, but won the electoral vote, OneVote is right in that Bush did win the presidency.

2004
The 2004 OneVote gave George W. Bush a second term in office with 55% of the vote. John Kerry finished second with 40% of the vote, while all third party candidates as a group (voters could only vote for them as a group) got 5%. The vote consisted of 1,400,000 students.

wtf??!!!???

Whatever happened to Duff? She popped up in a movie and a coupla segments of TV Nation, but that's all i remember.

She was diagnosed with the nervous system disease sarcoidosis and was off-the-map for awhile. She's got a couple of books out now and pops up on TV here and there.

oh man, you don't even know. I got paid $60 to sit in some CC radio marketing thing tonight and "Rate" my reaction to about 500 songs. 10 second snippets, 2.5 hours worth.

it was a thing put on by the local alt-rock channel, which is doing the "'90s classic alt-rock" thing, so LOTS of the most absolute shittiest early-mid-90's post-grunge. I mean, SO MANY songs that i thought i'd burned from my memory. Gin Blossoms, Bush, at least 7 No Doubt singles, every STP single, Candlebox, Marcy Playground, Matchbox 20, Counting Crows, and multiple singles from 10,000 Maniacs, Sarah Maclachlanahanaran, Collective Soul, Wallflowers, etc.

positives: Catherine Wheel's "Black Metallic", both version of "Hurt", at least 7 Cure singles, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," etc

Strangely absent: Hole, Spin Doctors

I mean, i was glad for the cash, but NO ONE should have to listen to the Gin Blossoms.
