Cadbury's Creme Eggs - How Do You Eat Yours?

Message Bookmarked

If given the chance, I will refrigerate Creme Eggs before eating. I like them cold cause they're less goopy and messy and take longer to eat so I can enjoy them more.

RS thought this was one of my weird habits but turns out other friends of ours do this too. I also know someone who eats them with a spoon.

So, how do you eat yours?

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Friday, 6 March 2009 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link

bite off the top, lick out the middle, eat the rest. Don't refrigerate them.

Although that is an idea.

p.s. - I realize that a lot of people think they're gross (I once did) but please try to keep the hate out. This is a creme egg appreciation thread!

i do the freezing thing too! i also will let them get warm and then chop them up and mix them w/vanilla ice cream

i haven't had one of these in like five yrs tho :/

I used to refrigerate whole cartons of creme eggs for use year round. At the pharmacy near my high school, the day after Easter we'd routinely pick up a few boxes for just a couple bucks apiece. If you have the room in the fridge, I can't recommend it enough.

u might turn into fattey though.

ian, Friday, 6 March 2009 16:21 (fifteen years ago) link

adding them to ice cream sounds like an A+ idea!

ian, Friday, 6 March 2009 16:21 (fifteen years ago) link

I just shove them into my mouth in one go.

Party Sausage, Friday, 6 March 2009 16:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Ian - I could eat these suckers every day but only allow myself one a week in the spring (ok two if I'm feeling particularly gluttonous) otherwise I'd be in trouble.

To those who haven't had them refrigerated - try it!! It's a whole other creme egg experience.

My mother-in-law sent me a couple of these a few months ago and they were pretty great too: http://www.cremeeggtwisted.com/

there's two places in NYC that do DEEP-FRIED cadbury eggs around easter time and it is pretty phenomenal.

I tried my hardest to make that not sound like OMG BACON OMONOMONOM, but it's difficult considering the subject matter.

anyway, the best part about it is the texture, when the creme part gets all melty inside the dough shell.

What the heck is "dairy milk"? I've always completely ignored this as a weird Britishism but the article implies it's NOT the same thing as "milk chocolate"?

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Monday, 12 January 2015 15:48 (nine years ago) link

Or, per the article, "diary milk." I know typing is hard, guys.

Cadbury's Dairy Milk. it's a type of chocolate.

koogs, Monday, 12 January 2015 15:53 (nine years ago) link

IO - it is milk chocolate. It's what cadbury's call their plain milk chocolate. Like if Hershey's had a name for their plain bars instead of just Hershey's bars. Does that make sense?

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Monday, 12 January 2015 15:54 (nine years ago) link

So it's Cadbury's specific milk choc recipe. I guess what the article is saying is that they've tinkered with it so that it's not exactly like the standard DM one they've used in the past.

I'll withhold judgement till I've eaten one - whole foofaraw sounds like a "we're discontinuing salad cream"-style PR fib tbh - but I must admit I'm anxious. This better not be some New Coke bullshit. The Creme Egg is perfection, and shouldn't be monkeyed with.

I was hoping the only change Kraft's ownership of Cadbury would herald was the insertion of Oreos into their every brand.
