ws kevin kline pre-i don't know 2000?

horseshoe, Friday, 6 March 2009 17:31 (fifteen years ago) link

I like how you can tell where he has stretches of "Fuck you Hollywood I'm going back to the stage, MY ONE TRUE LOVE."

Otto in A Fish Called Wanda remains untouchable for me.

"You're the vulgarian, you fuck!"

Ned Raggett, Friday, 6 March 2009 17:34 (fifteen years ago) link

Probably like FCWanda and his Doug Fairbanks (biggest asset of Chaplin after Downey) best on film.

Liked both his stage Hamlets better than his Falstaff.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 6 March 2009 17:35 (fifteen years ago) link

I can imagine his stage Shakespeare reading much, much better than his film Shakespeare.

Not that I intend to see either, not after seeing "In & Out".

Wild Wild West (1999) .... U.S. Marshal Artemus Gordon

aaahahahahahahahahahaha jesus this movie wow

that movie is really great, i mean the entire movie just devolves into will smith calling kenneth branaugh a cripple and then branaugh replying "at least i'm not black" by no more than like 45 minutes into it.

lady burt stanton (the schef (adam schefter ha ha)), Friday, 6 March 2009 18:40 (fifteen years ago) link

that was the movie that ended the great awesome-will-smith-summer-action movies run of the 90s

I knew youse'd dote on the Shakespeare...

Dr Morbius, Friday, 6 March 2009 18:51 (fifteen years ago) link

The total lunacy of "Wild Wild West" makes it the only movie he's done since completely making me hate him with "In & Out" that I would ever willingly watch again.

(that should be parsed to mean that "In & Out" ushered in the age of Kevin Kline appearing almost exclusively in movies that are fucking horrible/unappealing)

Wes HI DEREson (HI DERE), Friday, 6 March 2009 18:52 (fifteen years ago) link

i didnt see hancock

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Friday, 6 March 2009 18:53 (fifteen years ago) link

but i remember as a youth every summer i looked forward to the new will smith movie... and then this atrocity came out

what 'pocohantas' was to disney animation this movie was to will smith

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Friday, 6 March 2009 18:53 (fifteen years ago) link

that = misspent youth

In & Out was cute, finale is best Spartacus parody ever.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 6 March 2009 18:54 (fifteen years ago) link

hancock is the shit, max

lol I was about to start defending Will Smith but I see the movie he did immediately after WWW was... "The Legend of Bagger Vance". oops

"Hancock" is great, though.

Event Horizon (Nicole), Friday, 6 March 2009 21:33 (fifteen years ago) link

Man, Consenting Adults is one gawd-awful movie. Kline realizes that he's living the life of a pussy man after watching Kevin Spacey sail through traffic on a bicycle, without steering with his hands.
