I have to vote Intermission because I watched it for the first time last week and it was great. Plus, it's actually the only thing I've ever seen him in. Weirdly.

I thought that In Bruges looked bad in the previews but then it won awards and everyone says it was good so that's on my netflix now.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:25 (sixteen years ago)

Btw, you can watch all of intermission on youtube. Thanks Ronan!

I'm a fiend for mojitos.

Eazy, Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:27 (sixteen years ago)

I am going to watch In Bruges tonight. Unless that turns out to be as good as I hope it's going to be, I think I'd go for Phone Booth, it's pretty much just him, all the time, and he gets away with it in some style.

ailsa, Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:29 (sixteen years ago)

I liked Phone Booth alright but Intermission is really good, I'm voting that unless I watch In Bruges later too.

SB ya later, alligator (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:35 (sixteen years ago)

In Bruges easy.

chap, Sunday, 8 March 2009 18:41 (sixteen years ago)

New World will win this. In Bruges is good though.

The Devil's Avocado (Gukbe), Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:00 (sixteen years ago)

I want to vote New World...but I'm not gonna cause I've only seen like 3 of these as I've consciously/subconsciously avoided any movie with Colin Farrell in it for a while now

iatee, Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:05 (sixteen years ago)

phone booth is pretty bad, yeah

WmC, Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:16 (sixteen years ago)

The Recruit was good fun.

ailsa, Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:22 (sixteen years ago)

What's the one where he plays a hitman who puts brown sauce in his coffee?

That'd be Intermission.

SB ya later, alligator (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:30 (sixteen years ago)

some really crappy movies here. In Bruges and Cassandra's Dream were very similar, the first is the better movie, but i felt Colin was a little better in Cassandra.
i'll vote for The New World though.

Ludo, Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:44 (sixteen years ago)

In Bruges by a huge distance.

jed_, Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:55 (sixteen years ago)

I'm a fiend for mojitos.

A tough line to deliver, without camp, but Farrell did an especially bad job of it. In fact, he was bad in the film (or, more to the point, totally without gravitas or charisma). In fact, he's a bad actor in a lot of bad movies.

(Haven't seen In Bruges, to be fair).

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 8 March 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

this dude is disgusting

horseshoe, Sunday, 8 March 2009 20:49 (sixteen years ago)

i'm not talking about his acting; i'm talking about his face, to be clear.

horseshoe, Sunday, 8 March 2009 20:51 (sixteen years ago)

In Bruges (2008) .... Ray -> I FUCKING HATE THIS FILM SO MUCH

the tip of the tongue taking a trip tralalala (stevienixed), Sunday, 8 March 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

I think I walked out of Transmission. Or maybe I just wanted to.

too many misters not enough sisters (milo z), Sunday, 8 March 2009 22:21 (sixteen years ago)

Tigerland by miles; he's been good in so many so-so or crap movies, but that one is actually good.

Pete Scholtes, Sunday, 8 March 2009 22:32 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Thursday, 12 March 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

OK, I saw In Bruges, so that wins by miles, even it was more about Gleeson than Farrell really.

ailsa, Thursday, 12 March 2009 07:38 (sixteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Friday, 13 March 2009 00:01 (sixteen years ago)

I guess both ppl who saw The New World voted for it.

Dr Morbius, Friday, 13 March 2009 13:32 (sixteen years ago)

didn't vote, did see the new world, would have gone miami

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Friday, 13 March 2009 13:38 (sixteen years ago)

i liked the new world a lot but farrell didn't really seem appropriate for it. i would have voted for tigerland

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 13 March 2009 13:42 (sixteen years ago)

i liked in bruges pretty well, and farrell's good. but seeing mcdonagh in movie form made me realize how much he's really influenced by tarantino.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Friday, 13 March 2009 14:04 (sixteen years ago)

I dunno, I think the similarities are relatively superficial. There's a lot more emotional resonance to In Bruges than any QT movie.

chap, Friday, 13 March 2009 14:09 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, mcdonagh's much more interested in character than tarantino is. but he learned a lot from him about that balance of comedy and real, raw violence, and the way you can build and then divert tension through funny little digressions. the showdown at the end in the hotel, with the pregnant hotel owner, is pure tarantino. it's just, seeing mcdonagh on stage, that connection was less obvious.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Friday, 13 March 2009 14:15 (sixteen years ago)

I think McDonagh's a better writer, though not a better director yet (though very impressive for a debut, so who knows?).

chap, Friday, 13 March 2009 14:36 (sixteen years ago)

Uk, that was a badly written post, sorry.

chap, Friday, 13 March 2009 14:37 (sixteen years ago)

saw the new world, thought it was good, CF was bad in it, didn't vote, maybe would have voted SWAT cos it's the only performance of his that i've seen that i liked

goole, Friday, 13 March 2009 15:31 (sixteen years ago)

saw the new world voted vice

ice cr?m, Friday, 13 March 2009 23:37 (sixteen years ago)

elmo argonaut, Friday, 13 March 2009 23:41 (sixteen years ago)

gotta be intermission. you all need to watch it.

I watched again last week and since then can't get the dialogue out of my brain. best Dublin film ever imo.

Bit one-sided really (Gleeson ftw)

ailsa, Saturday, 14 March 2009 11:10 (sixteen years ago)

Well yeah obv

Linseed Oil is maximum, and that's the law (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 14 March 2009 11:11 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah if more people had seen Intermission i think the results might be a bit different
