Burger King Burger Shots

Burger King is a largely desperate franchise that alternates mushy, insipid knock-offs with occasional glimpses of inspired, albeit poorly executed, modernism (the one with the new "mashed potato topping" not too long ago, or anything with crunchy onion bits). Where do you stand on this new, probably pointless, idea. They're pretty expensive up here in Canada ($1.99 for two). I don't think I'll go try them.

Barf those look so bad, there's nothing but meat in them and that bread looks really really processed and sugary and wrong.

I am only slightly less infuriated by this than the apple slices in a bag they were advertising last year.

Also, "burger shots" = unfortunate (but likely accurate) typo waiting to happen.

Yeah what the hell is that? I thought all BK burgers had sesame seed buns that werent quite so... plastic.

BK marketing genius visits White Castle after consuming a dozen vodka-jello shots.

Aimless, Wednesday, 11 March 2009 03:47 (sixteen years ago)

They're basically just McDonalds' regular hamburgers. Well done, Burker King, you successfully duplicated a well-known 50 year old product.

Actually the bun on a regular McDonalds burger is not usually even that creased and stale-looking.

I was inexplicably creeped out by the Burger Bundles/Buddies when I was a very little kid and ~20 years later I am still not much happier to see them.

I remember loving the Burger Buddies. Of course, I was about 6 years old.

In the late 80's there was a def a BK sandwich called "Burger Buddies" which is the same exact thing as "Burger Shots" as far as I can tell.

billstevejim, Thursday, 25 June 2009 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

in the late whenevers, anywhere, there are sandwiches called sliders which are the exact some thing as "burger shots."

remy bean, Thursday, 25 June 2009 02:07 (fifteen years ago)

The worst thing about this product is that it isn't 6 individual burgers, it is one large patty that you have to rip up.

The thing is large, served on a nine-and-a-half-inch sesame bun and is meant to be shared. "You know," said Sullivan, "You look at people like Paul Kahan who is doing communal dining at Avec. That's something I was thinking about with the New York Pizza Burger."
---
"Oooh," said Schaufelberger, "You got a good one. Sometimes the patties overlap and you get double meat. It's a good sign."

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 18 August 2010 22:11 (fourteen years ago)

That article is really hard to read. So basically it's a pizza sandwich, except they fucked it up and it's gross, like pretty much everything at BK except the crispy onion rings.

and Burger King last year began selling beer at its more expensive Whopper Bars in the United States.

whopper bar?!

dayo, Tuesday, 27 September 2011 11:30 (thirteen years ago)

Burger King has gotten a firsthand lesson in how difficult selling alcohol can be. In 2009, it began opening Whopper Bars as a more upscale complement to its fast-food locations. The Whopper Bars serve items like a Bourbon Whopper and a New York Pizza Burger, and customers choose additional toppings like pepperoni, onion rings or guacamole.
