She's in Out of Sight?

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 March 2009 16:29 (sixteen years ago)

Probably between Being John Malkovich and 40 Year Old Virgin although she's almost always good.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 March 2009 16:30 (sixteen years ago)

she's in about last night???

straight up, you're payin' jacks just to hear me phase (M@tt He1ges0n), Friday, 13 March 2009 16:31 (sixteen years ago)

She's Clooney's ex-girlfriend who was a magician's assistant. Has a great scene w/Luis Guzman.

I totally don't recall this scene at all.

Alex in SF, Friday, 13 March 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)

I first saw her in Walking and Talking, and she amazed me then so that's the one I voted for.

The Screaming Lobster of Challops (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 13 March 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

besides seinfeld i first saw her in 'living in oblivion'. all i remember is that she had mad armpit hair.

Tracy Michael Jordan Catalano (Jordan), Friday, 13 March 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

Love Catherine Keener, so many good roles, it's going to be a tough one!

I think I'm going with Being John Malkovich, but 40-year Old Virgin was a close second for me.

would not watch 'your friends & neighbors' again but i remember her being good in it.

°° × Þ°))·ΞЊ (Lamp), Friday, 13 March 2009 16:44 (sixteen years ago)

<3 <3 <3 her

i voted virgin just because i was glad she got a break from all the hard-edged sexy bitch roles (even though she's really good at those). i do love her in malkovich.

# An American Crime (2007) .... Gertrude Baniszewski

she is very good at being an unwatchable horrible human being in this

bnw, Friday, 13 March 2009 16:44 (sixteen years ago)

An American Crime, Synecdoche or Malkovich.

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Friday, 13 March 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, it's weird how Virgin feels like it's among the ones where she's doing the most challenging acting -- it's kind of a complicated character to pull off, and she does it wonderfully!

I'll probably be voting for a Holofcener movie, though -- those are great, and Keener's a huge part of it. (Like a Holofcener BFF/co-creative too, I think)

nabisco, Friday, 13 March 2009 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

something really appealing about her in johnny suede. i like lisps

cathlamet wa (jergins), Friday, 13 March 2009 17:28 (sixteen years ago)

Catherine Keener is one of the few women in the world that make me think, "Damn, she and I should be married."

Both Mr. Que and I ws.

quincie, Friday, 13 March 2009 18:49 (sixteen years ago)

"Damn, she and I should be married."

you want to be married to a frosty bitch goddess?

seems like that's her forte anyway, and she's really great at it. gotta go with BJM here (agree 40YOV is the exception role)

One of the Most High Profile Comedy Directors of the 90s (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 13 March 2009 18:58 (sixteen years ago)

I voted Virgin because I love that film and she's great in it. I lurve the scene with her and Jonah Hill.

Say what you like Professor Words (Ned Trifle II), Friday, 13 March 2009 19:02 (sixteen years ago)

I love the scene in Lovely & Amazing with her and the old classmate she bumps into when trying to sell her twig chairs in that shop. In fact I love the whole twig chair thing.

This thread has just inspired me to check out whatever happened to Tom DiCillo (Living in Oblivion, Box of Moon Light, The Real Blonde). Apparently he made a film called Delirious in 2006 that was never released over here. No Catherine Keener though. Anyone see it?

Just saw and loved Hamlet 2, in which she was great as usual. But the character I remember most was in Into the Wild, where she tells the kid, "You've grown up very loved," or something.

Pete Scholtes, Thursday, 19 March 2009 06:23 (sixteen years ago)

Love her. Voted "Living in Oblivion".
