In the movies I have noticed that people never close their curtains at night, so do you close your curtains?

Yes, and I hardly ever open them during the day, either.

snoball, Sunday, 15 March 2009 10:44 (sixteen years ago)

Curtains are closed at all times.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Sunday, 15 March 2009 10:56 (sixteen years ago)

I don't even own curtains. Or blinds.

Bubble Withdrawal (Masonic Boom), Sunday, 15 March 2009 10:59 (sixteen years ago)

the ones that face the street yes. of course

sonderborg, Sunday, 15 March 2009 11:00 (sixteen years ago)

My windows are, however, frosted up to head height, in case anyone thinks I'm some kind of exhibitionist or anything.

Yes, and I hardly ever open them during the day, either.

This.

emil.y, Sunday, 15 March 2009 13:39 (sixteen years ago)

Right now it's sunny, so the curtains are closed to stop the place warming up.

snoball, Sunday, 15 March 2009 13:44 (sixteen years ago)

We're on the second floor so I don't think anyone can see in so I don't close them in the front room. I do close them in the bedroom though to prevent the sun coming in in the mornings.

Now that I think about it the bedroom curtains are usually closed. If I remember I'll leave them open on the weekends to wake up with sunlight (if any)

Loader, Sunday, 15 March 2009 13:57 (sixteen years ago)

i never close my bedroom curtains because i want the sun to wake me up in the morning!

When we moved in, all our neighbors would talk about was how the previous owner kept his blinds open, hung out in his underwear, and watched TV all night long. We took the hint.

uh all the fucking time. if i had my way i'd build myself a house without windows. we live in the centre of the city and i don't want my neighbours to see us (fucking, eating, running around, playing,...) Hellz no.

In the Netherlands it's customary to leave the curtains open so people who walk by can actually look inside. Something to do with religion, showing to the outside world you have nothing to hide (said my friend. something like that). It's just WEIRD.

your neighbours sound lovely xp: "the guy who was in here last, we spied on him all night long until he moved away"

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:32 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, Nath, when I stayed in Bruges, I remember being able to see into the old couple's house across the road from the hotel...I thought it was a bit weird...they must've known they'd be overlooked.

jel --, Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:35 (sixteen years ago)

No curtains except in bedroom. 2nd floor.

meta pro lols (libcrypt), Sunday, 15 March 2009 17:36 (sixteen years ago)

Though, having got on my high horse about curtains...I must confess that I took down the net curtains in my bedroom, mainly so my dog can look out (it keeps him quiet)

i live on the second floor of a duplex. bay window in the living room has blinds half-drawn, but the slats are open to let in the light. most of the time it's up, tho.

i don't really care if the ppl across the street see me walk around in my under wear \(°_°)/

Weird -- the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was "that sounds like something people are always doing in the movies."

no definitive pattern of closing/opening blinds but i usually crack the window for fresh air + soothing ambient sounds

winstonian (winston), Thursday, 19 March 2009 02:52 (sixteen years ago)

I suppose it's rude not to, but I noticed that my room is higher than everyone else's on the block. I like to look up at the stars at night.

u s steel, Thursday, 19 March 2009 08:26 (sixteen years ago)

Yes, and I hardly ever open them during the day, either.

Goths.

I pull the blinds up all the way when it's light out, but I close them when it gets dark. Even though you can't really see in from the street, I don't want the apartments across the street that are level with mine looking at my computer screen.

kenan, Thursday, 19 March 2009 09:27 (sixteen years ago)

yeah. open in the daytime, closed at night. that's what they're for isn't it?

tomofthenest, Thursday, 19 March 2009 09:37 (sixteen years ago)

Blinds are angled so I can see out and people can't see in. I’m on the second floor, so only people across the road can see in if they're up and that’s only when I’m out, so who cares. I like the sun coming in in the mornings, and the light from traffic going across my ceiling at night.

not_goodwin, Thursday, 19 March 2009 10:11 (sixteen years ago)

I like the sun coming in in the mornings

... waking me up two hours before I need to wake up, no thanks!

Sacco, Vanzetti, Passantino... (Tom D.), Thursday, 19 March 2009 10:19 (sixteen years ago)

Best way to wake up, better than a stupid ringing alarm putting you in a bad mood until it goes of the next day!

Well done team yes!

StanM, Friday, 20 March 2009 05:23 (sixteen years ago)

no, because if my room isn't light in the morning, I can't wake up
