Anna Faris Appreciation Thread

Because the Hartley/Araki poll reminded me about Smiley Face, and the fact that I suspect Anna Faris is a genius, and why isn't she involved with any of those main crews of guys that churn out comedy, like the Apatow or State or Ferrell camps? If someone made a movie where she and Paul Rudd just sat around talking about the economy, I would buy the deluxe edition and laugh throughout.

I've always liked her, really, despite having only seen a handful of things she's been in (cosign your WTF at Brokeback Mountain...really?).

There were a few days earlier this year where half the people I follow on twitter kept saying good things about The House Bunny, coinciding with the time it showed up on PPV. Still haven't watched it myself, but I can imagine all these people in their separate places sitting around on a weeknight, frustrated with what's on tv, and taking a chance on that movie only to end up surprisingly satisfied.

i still don't understand all the hubbub about her, this kinda sums up my feelings:

Yes, definitely be psyched for Smiley Face. She's terrific in it.

I watched and liked The House Bunny, basically because it was her, and it was reasonably good -- but there's a level on which she's working hard to save a pretty silly movie. I wouldn't exactly consider it some hidden gem, just a decent comedy that she and Emma Stone and Kat Dennings are making a lot better than it would otherwise be.

Amazingly enough, Morbs, I have trouble thinking of anything she's been in that you would like. I'm assuming you're not much of an Araki-stoner-comedy kind of guy? Watch that like four times, though, and you'll be in Faris's corner for life.

She's wonderful in a small role; it was the first time I knew who she was.

i mean i really, really doubt you are going to find ms. faris as much of a "captivatingly hilarious marshmallow" as nabisco apparently does and i really see no way you're going to be into this movie, or any of her other "major" works. going out of your way to figure out if you like anna faris is just going to give you one more thing to rant about online, and declare a waste of time.

Captivating = you spend a whole lot of that movie just watching her do amazing things with her face, which is totally entertaining all the way through

Hilarious = I think she's funny

Marshmallow = she has a really soft face and seems kinda marshmallowish in that movie, somehow? This is probably the part you find "gross" or something. I'm not going to try and make a smore out of anybody, I swear

^^ fantastic stoner wardrobe involved, too, but no, no sci-fi elements. Elements about economics and Marxism, which are sort of ... a weird inclusion

despite the fact i thought the movie pretty much sucked, she was as awesome in observe & report as ever. definitely the high point.

the problem i had with the house bunny was that it was so badly shot and lit that at times i could not tell what the hell was going on.

yeah i know, i am complaining about the lighting in the house bunny. but it was just so bizarre, there were times where it really seemed like they were going for some super naturalistic oh hey sometimes people do have shadows that obscure their face deal with it vibe, and i was liek why is this in my broad college comedy that is otherwise ok?

she is pretty awesome in May, but the lead is so overpoweringly good that i mostly forget that anyone else was in that movie.
