Also a Jim Thompson novel.
Something by Camus (probably The Fall).
Generation X although he's kind of over it.

Mick Farren is the best novelist who was formerly in a rock band and used to be a top rock critic. Phaid The Gambler is best, but The Tale Of Willy's Rats is a rock band novel. William McCranor Henderson's Stark Raving Elvis is good.
