Sorry, I just felt the need.

And the contestants will have no idea what's going on in the W*rld C*p either. bless.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

World Cup for me. I was interested in Big Brother as a concept when the first series started, but rapidly began to feel like an alien just visiting this planet when I was around ppl who were totally captivated by it and was incredulous that they'd made a second series, let alone a third. I'm not a great fan of football normally, but I'm always transformed into one when the World Cup comes on. We've just had the draw for the office sweepstake and unfortunately I drew Spain and the USA. The newbies got all the good teams, leading my girlfriend (speculating wildly) to claim that it was all a ploy to make them feel happy here!

MarkH, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

There is no contest!

Emma, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

football ok as a concept but i am totally incredulous now they have made not just a third series but a [insert number here, as i haf no idea nor do i care]

big brother wins

mark s, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

World Cup for me. Big Brother is so , like, passe.I remember the days of Nasty Nick, now that was proper reality tv.

Jonnie, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't worry fair football-nutters, I won't be cluttering up this board with BB chat, as I shall be here instead for that. Now if only we could find you a football site to chat on, I mean the interweb is meant to cater for all these minority interests.

I AM BEING SARCASTIC. also I don't really mind the football threads, but it's nice to pretend that I do.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BB passé? But football has been around for WAY longer, it has gone out, come in again, gone out, come in again x 100 and is currently OUT. It's official. I really don't know how people who aren't crazy about football manage to sit through an entire match. I can usually bear the first half but by around 60 minutes I am catatonic with boredom & despairing that there are a whole 30 mins more to endure.

Emma, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't beleive you even had to ask the question Alang, I'm shocked.

incredulous Chris, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

if football is the answer then the terrorists (= nick hornby) have won

mark s, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It's too close to call! June is going to be a paradise of ill- informed instant punditry.

Tom, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I really don't know how people who aren't crazy about football manage to sit through an entire match
They manage it by copious DRINKING.

MarkH, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But big bruv will only start warming up when the world cup is over, so maybe it's a continuum

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes yes I am not suggesting that I have tried watching an entire football match sober, I am not that much of a mentalist. But even then OH GOD THE TEDIUM LET ME OUT OF HERE I don't care if there's booze just make it stop.

Emma, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

world cup easy! i don't have any interest in reality shows. i missed all of BB#1 because i didn't have a tv, i saw bits of BB#2 because all housemates loved it, so i was forced (and i mean forced. it was, like, "Bradley, where do you think you're going? get in here and watch Big Brother", but, nothing happened, it was boring!

gareth, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well both the last series' I missed the first couple of weeks so the whole full-house dynamic will be new to me, and if things get even better after that then IT'S A BONUS wa-hey!

Taking Sides: Trig Brother II vs ILE/Sinister Grudge Rematch

Tom, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

big bruv will only start warming up when the world cup is over
but by then there'll be Wimbledon to watch on the other side.

MarkH, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Christ on a bike. I'd forgotten about that little bit of sporting purgatory. The sooner all sports are on Sky etc. and leave my (YES MY) terrestrial telly schedules untouched the better.

Emma, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It will be the ultimate irony if golf is the last to go. Golf on tv...what a waste of time.

MarkH, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think you';ll find if the Big Brother contestants had a mass brawl with every proffesional footballer involved in the World Cup, the result would be a resounding bonesmash to the boys in boots.

Lynskey, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not if the BB contestants had big machine guns. Also if you had all BB contestants from all BBs round the world evah (still with machine guns) I think the football boys would be running scared.

Emma, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

big brother never changed licensing laws. world cup = booze revolution!

nickie, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, but if the footballers had a giant army of genetically enhanced apes, known as "Bessimel", at their disposal, I'm sure the outcome would be BigBrother 0, Footballers 1,000,000,000.

Lynskey, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It is also going to be the Eurovision Song Contest this month and no one will care.

N., Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

We've had Big Brother, Big Brother 2, and even Celebrity Big Brother. Now we need, Terrorist Big Brother. 12 of the worlds most dangerous terrorphiles locked up in a big house together, who knows what dangerous schemes they'll concoct? You will you fool it'll be on national tv.

Jarl'rmai, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I am SO watching both. And Wimbledon. I love unemployment, rah!

Mark C, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not going to watch Big Bro.

I like the World Cup.

Eurovision is rad.

J>E>L, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

It will be the ultimate irony if golf is the last to go. Golf on tv...what a waste of time.

Watching golf=dud. Sleeping away a rainy afternoon on the couch w/ golf quietly droning on the tube=supraclassic.
