"The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift"

There was a room full of people talking/eating and only half paying attention to the movie, which was horrible; the biggest lols came when we started actually watching it right after Lucas Black's friend blew up and LB was running around proclaiming "I HAVE TO DO THIS!" without giving any kind of adequate explanation what "this" was. (As it turns out, "this" seems to have been "pose dramatically in front of a car on top of a mountain".)

I've done this too! I think something about it actually calls for repeat viewings, even beyond the near-campy ridiculousness of it -- there's like the occasional scene where it seems like it might almost be good or serious, so I'll sit and rewatch it just to see how amazingly it goes from being a normal movie to being insane batshit "why are you doing this?" horrible.

The 2nd and 3rd times, I sat there still aghast at the Susan Sarandon tap-dancing/Free-Bird flameout spectacle, and then suddenly remembering that there is still a Road Trip to go! MLK JR museum - old guy in bar - tree - kirsten dunst at farmers market wtf. Compelling.

It is kind of an amazing film, in the original and value-neutral sense of the word "amazing."

The way I always start re-watching it is based on a desire to see the bit with the children's video -- "you know what we're going to do with this house? We're going to BLOW IT UP"

I'm surprised at Jody R. above. Seems like she'd be down with the quite smashing They All Laughed. I know someone sane who thinks it's one of the ten greatest films of all-time.

I'm reminded that someone pointed out that actresses have the luxury of changing their names when they have names as unfortunate as "Messing", so why in god's name hasn't she? (actually I think it was Kathy Griffin who I can't stand usually, but she was right about this)

the angelina jolie clint eastwood-directed movie? no it is not. it is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. Is Eastwood a good director at all? based on this and that Swank movie I say no.

Ugh, this week, Failure to Launch, TWICE. But I sorta have it bad for SJP, which made it slightly tolerable I guess.

Totally watched that on a plane with other choices available.
I don't hate Mcconaughey though and that's probably a charcter flaw fr sure.

I once sat through two Steven Segal movies back to back while I was getting my hair braided.

Most Steven Segal movies are hilarious. On Deadly Ground, in particular, is definitely worth making time for.

this mainly happens to me with tv shows, which is a really awful thing because once you are too lazy to turn off one episode of 24, you start watching it every fucking week because ok what is jon voight's deal anyway???

Same goes for The Happening. I mean, you guys have seen the clip of Marky Mark talking to the houseplant.

we own the happening too. For a while there was a guy going around selling pirated movies, and my boyfriend was a good customer, so the pirate movie guy would regularly throw in stuff for free. I think he paid for the happening though.

this happened to me last week but i've already forgotten what the movie was

last night i took in a good 20, maybe even 25 minutes of BLACK DOG starring patrick swayze, meat loaf, and randy travis. an ex-con takes a job driving a truck cross country. what he doesn't know is that the truck is filled with illegal weapons and now he must fight to survive and save his family. oh and did i mention TRUCKS CONSTANTLY CRASHING INTO ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING?

xxpost: no, you want to watch Roadhouse. It is so pitch perfect that it transcends camp. I know I've said basically the same thing on another thread, but what Road House naturally is, is what the Apotow/Stiller camp has been striving for, but is far to self-conscious to achieve.

what about that one where the guy from the breakfast club kills girls by drowning them and tying them to the bottom of a lake where he keeps a garden of victims? no idea what the movie's called but it was hands-down the MOST terrible.

Back when I worked at a video store in the Southern US, a couple came in every other day for three weeks asking if we had Black Dog. I tried to explain to her again and again, "look, Black Dog isn't out in theaters until next week. It'll be at least 5 months before we get it on video." Still came back time and again, always saying "I saw the commercial on TV".

Also, have seen Black Dog. A slightly downmarket Breakdown, I thought.
