(it sounds a lot better than it looks, I hope)

Graham, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, given that it includes a song remixed by Helen Love, Louise's worst single ever, Bis and a track that references a character from Eastenders in its title, I think she'd certainly be within her rights.

no apples in stereo, whats up with that?

Exactly how much would I hate the Blue Smarties, Graham?

RickyT, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

this cd is too rockist

gareth, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Graham sent me a very nice CD so that I cld hear his '102 Beats That' track. Very sensibly, he didn't end mine w/ a Beth bleedin' Orton track.

Andrew L, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

there's way too many Helen Love and Bis hataz on this board. get yourself off to a Fall box set and leave us alone you bullies, *cries, then runs off zig-zag to the horizon*

Alan T, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This is the best compilation i've seen on this board so far. by a big long fucking shot.

It's missing a Sparks single. Which, I don't know.

Rebecca's so lucky. But where are the 21st Century Girls?!?

Arthur, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Not macho enough.

Tom, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I will excuse many things for a comp that has "Backdoor Lover" on it.

Dan Perry, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks Arthur, I've LOST my 21st Century Girls CD, poss. on the Metropolitan line (more likely at home). Still haven't had the guts (or the mungy) to order their album from Japan.

Graham, Friday, 24 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, if it doesn't turn up, Graham, e-mail me offline and I'd be happy to burn you a copy. I decided last month to live out my remaining days according the principles espoused on the one and only so far as I know 21st Century Girls CD. It seems to be working out OK. Anyway, I think you'll find that it's hard to live without.

Pigtails and all that makeup?

(or something like that, my memory is fading [sob] DO you have the album or just the single?)

Graham, Saturday, 25 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually, it's "guitars and all that make up/ lipstick, pigtails and curls, the future is ours to take it/ Rockin' our teenage world/give it up 'cos you know We've made it... ".

Sorry about the late response, Graham, but yeah, I have the album and every song--not counting the ballad--is just as good as the single. It's a bit like the Josie & the Pussycats record, though the lyrics aren't as clever and that's fine by me. And whoever wrote the songs is a BIG Chinn & Chapman fan. Well, they cover the Sweet's "Teenage Rampage", duh, but it's in every track. The Girls' own song "Teenage Attack" is better, actually. Plus the vocals have this shouty Girl Power hooligan thing going on and I much prefer that to the Letters to Cleo girl. Was the album ever released in the UK? This is a copy a friend made for me of the Japanese version.
