The Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch is on the way. Does this warrant enthusiasm?

I loved the first one. Bit of a long wait for a sequel isn't it? Mr Idle has been living up to his name.

Does it explore the fall out from Spanish bullfighting at all?

The first one is possibly my favorite music-related movie ever -- and I don't even like the Beatles.

I'm not sure if the idea of doing a sequel, especially after all these years, is a very good one though.

McCartney's new 'art' exhib is much better satire.

Wait a minute, didn't Neil Innes die recently?

It hasn't been THAT long since 'Be Here Now'

Neil's not dead, though I heard he wasn't doing totally well. There are a variety of fan sites on the net that could provide more info, doubtless.

The original film is of course fantabulous, etc., but having learned more of the history of the overall project, and how Idle essentially hijacked it all from Innes in the end, the idea of a sequel is fairly horrifying. It doesn't help that Idle has proven himself to be the worst of the ex-Pythons when it comes to doing something with his non-Python life...Nearly Departed, anyone?

Search: the Rutland Weekend Television material, which was the Innes/Idle collaboration in the mid-seventies which helped give birth to the Rutles, among other things.

i wish they'd repeat Rutland Weekend Television - i don't think it ever has been. in fact i didn't realise there was a film as well as the sketches in that series and the album
