... is taking advantage of Channel 5's "Kevin Costner" season?

I would rather snorkel in a lagoon of rancid spreadable butter substitute than watch a movie with KC in it. Am I so odd?

mark s, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Am I so odd?

Is there a way to answer this without huting Mark's feelings?

Graham, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But-but-but Waterworld! The passion!

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love it when Graham invents new verbs.

I found "A Perfect World" (dir. Clint Eastwood) extraordinarily moving. A kidnap story where the kidnapper identifies with the victim, a little boy who's been deprived of fun. And the boy wants so much to like the kidnapper, who's ultimately too twisted to get out of himself.

also, the kid wearing a cheap, casper halloween costume through most of it is fairly creepy.

(i am not making light of frank's post, rather agreeing with it.)

jess, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hutt it, Ally.

Graham, Sunday, 26 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I like 'The Untouchables' and 'No Way Out'.

Costner never really recovered from his fatally 'uncool' appearance in 'In Bed With Madonna' ....

Andrew L, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck Kevin Costcutter Republican dirtbag why not shoot him instead of poor old Two Socks. You want Stands Like A Fist pal go stand in Tulse Hill at 11:30 on a Friday night and see how many you get. Then you'll become what you behold.

And Lee Evans made mincemeat out of you on Parkinson you humourless cuntsluck.

Pete Bondurant, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Saturday's was advertised as a comedy. Can anyone envisage anyone ever saying "Costner was hilarious in..."? I'd be pretty hard pressed to think of another big star actor who attracts me to a movie less than Costner.

Martin Skidmore, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

hutt it, Ally.

Why can't I do a simple... I'm going back to bed.

Graham, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Costner is all substance and no style.

N., Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Meet me tonite in the Costner Clubhouse

N., Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can anyone envisage anyone ever saying "Costner was hilarious in..."

Me. About every single film I've seen him in ever. I defy anyone to watch The Postman (which features, among other treats, Costner talking earnestly to POST-APOCALYPTIC TOM PETTY) and not say EXACTLY that. Skip "Costner Season" if you want, but you're missing out.

The Actual Mr. Jones, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

there is water on Mars! new home for mr.costner! yay!

jel --, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw waterworld when on a date in high school! I remember us both liking it!

nb my critical faculties may not have been 'fully formed' then do not take this as a sign that you should not watch SPIDERMAN which is the best movie evah

Josh, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Josh, why are you mutating into Mark S? I'm not criticizing this approach -- indeed, I appreciate it greatly. :-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

ned, why are you not?

mark s, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Because I am an evil, bitter crab who hates everyone else, and thus could never mutate into anyone else. *sulks*

Ned Raggett, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

good excuse for not getting any work done a la m.s. ned

Josh, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay!

Ned Raggett, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

HaHa, The Postman (to Tom Petty: "I know you. You're famous.").

Along those lines, his accent in Robin Hood is also pretty darn funny. I talk just like that. I hope Bull Durham is in the Costnerfest -- it is the only funny movie of his that comes to mind, although Costner is not funny.

felicity, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"EFFECT is what i am talking about, not intention: i don't know why ppl have such difficulty with this idea"

The Actual Mr. Jones, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

heh

mark s, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I love it when Graham gets even more dumb.
