Adam Sandler Poll

Thought about making this just comedies cuz "Punch-Drunk Love" is an all-timer, but i've got a feeling that's a rare opinion. So, all his movies it is...dude gets some shit but he's been in some good movies imo. Also, these are just flicks he's been the lead or co-lead in..."Mixed Nuts" stans, for example, can suck it.

What an awful list.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 11 April 2009 02:55 (sixteen years ago)

What no storytellin' uncle movie?

Alex in SF, Saturday, 11 April 2009 02:57 (sixteen years ago)

Click is a better movie than the ad campaign would've led you to believe.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 11 April 2009 02:59 (sixteen years ago)

gilmore, done

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:00 (sixteen years ago)

i'm a big fan of the guy's early work and love "PDL" like few other movies, but "zohan" was one of the worst movies i've ever seen

k3vin k., Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

looking at emmanuelle chriqui was the only thing that got me through that

k3vin k., Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

i stopped watching them after big daddy because i didn't wanna ruin the memories

patches (harbl), Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:01 (sixteen years ago)

lol i have seen every one of these save for two

k3vin k., Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:04 (sixteen years ago)

I've only seen about half of these, and PDL isn't among them. I keep meaning to watch it...

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:06 (sixteen years ago)

Voted Big Daddy nonetheless.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:06 (sixteen years ago)

I've seen way too many sadly. Sandler has never been funny so I have no idea why.

Alex in SF, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:06 (sixteen years ago)

spanglish looked like the kind of movie that would me an aneurysm so i didn't see it

velko, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:07 (sixteen years ago)

So disappointed I couldn't vote for this:

J0rdan S., Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:25 (sixteen years ago)

The production was shot entirely on a cruise ship going from New Orleans to Cancun. The ship was going to the Miss Universe Pageant and was filled with beauty queens from all over the United States. The camera crew forgot to bring a box of lenses on the ship, so the director of photography was forced to shoot with the wrong lenses

Sounds completely professional!

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:32 (sixteen years ago)

Its horrible, truly awful. Zohan is probably Citizen fucking Kane in comparison. Fun if you like to play "spot the continuity errors" though.

See, the thing about this poll is that you can just cut if off after the first two, save for the stray vote for PDL (which I like btw). Really, you probably could have just isolated it to Billy Madison and Happy Gillmore, but whatevs.

Gillmore.

Imaginary Dead Baseball Players Live in My Cornfield (Pillbox), Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:45 (sixteen years ago)

i hate to admit it but 50 First Dates made me all gooey inside despite the presence of both adam sandler AND drew barrymore.

that said, voting PDL.

Roz, Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:50 (sixteen years ago)

Punch-Drunk Love or Reign Over Me. Best Sandler comedy? MR. DEEDS. Big Daddy is ok, too.

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:50 (sixteen years ago)

Mr. Deeds? Challops.

Imaginary Dead Baseball Players Live in My Cornfield (Pillbox), Saturday, 11 April 2009 03:51 (sixteen years ago)

john turturro is pretty funny in it but that's it.

o yeah. duh. (I'm a bit tipsy at this point)

carry on then.

Happy Gilmore

wedding singer and PDL are also decent. Zohan would be ok if rob schneider were completely excised from it.

bulletproof is godawful. i seriously doubt going overboard is worse.

Why isn't Airheads on the list? I would've voted for that.

Tuomas, Saturday, 11 April 2009 08:59 (sixteen years ago)

not really co-lead in Airheads. I vote Billy Madison... "of course I peed my pants!" so many great scenes.

sonderangerbot, Saturday, 11 April 2009 11:00 (sixteen years ago)

I really like "The Wedding Singer", and "Zohan" was shockingly decent, so there's at least two on the list that I can vote for without shame.

^^norm is brilliant in billy madison. "this is the best night of my life!"

i hated Waterboy due to its huge popularity in my high school, but Mr. Deeds was actually even worse. never saw Little Nicky, thank god.

Click is a hateful movie which argues against life. Do not vote for it. It is horror.

Suggesteban Cambiasso (jim), Sunday, 26 April 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

Click and Little Nicky fall into the daringly bad/so bad they're interesting category for me, while Mr. Deeds is just auto-pilot lazy, the Big Daddy formula but more clock-punching, and Anger Management was godawful--the only movie I've walked out of in years, and with droves of other people doing the same.

That said, the combination of good intentions and bad taste appealed to me in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry and You Don't Mess with the Zohan, while 50 First Dates had a good premise. I totally bought and dug Punch-Drunk Love. I have a feeling the guiltiest pleasures are the best films: Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Waterboy, and The Wedding Singer, in about that order.

Pete Scholtes, Sunday, 26 April 2009 03:59 (sixteen years ago)

on second thought, i think i should've voted 50 first dates. :/

haven't seen anything after the longest yard, which was more boring than outright bad and the only movie of his i've ever found truly appalling was anger management. i don't really hate sandler tho, wd rather watch any of his films over say, a mike myers or eddie murphy vehicle.

Roz, Sunday, 26 April 2009 05:15 (sixteen years ago)

Happy Gilmore has Shooter McGavin and Sandler isn't playing a complete idiot, so...

I went to see Reign Over Me at a screening snd the director did Q and A after the film. It was really embarrassing e.g. "I have a whole bunch of references to the Who in the movie. Why? Because they're the best band ever and I loved them in high school. Next question. Why is that scene in the movie? Good question, because I love oral sex jokes I mean who doesn't I'm just a guy BAHHH anyway you guys have been terrific I'm out of here I hope this movie cleared up 9/11 for everyone."

Youth Ya Goon (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 11 November 2011 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

this is a p good takedown

I’m not even sure this qualifies as a real movie.

The downward spiral of Adam Sandler’s Hollywood career hits rock bottom with “Jack and Jill,” a wheezy, possibly inbred comedy which ends up as nothing more than a series of individual sketches linked together by a single visual joke. Farts are farted and balls are scratched, but what’s really depressing to witness here is Sandler’s complete laziness, failing to secure at least one measly laugh, trashing his once delightfully absurdist self to make a grotesque comedy that doesn’t even attempt to sustain a plot, instead brimming with poo-poo and pee-pee jokes. This movie barely has a pulse.
