'Being well dressed gives a feeling of inward tranquillity which psychoanalysis is powerless to bestow.' (see here.

do you agree? i think i probably do, or at least i would do if i could afford the clothes i wanted (i mean, if you're wearing gucci suits as painting overalls it'd be a poor state of affairs if you didn't think you dressed as well as you could, ferchrissakes).

I was thinking something vaguely similiar to this ont he way to the time this morning. Whilst I wouldn't class 'well-dressed' for me as being in high powered Gucci, feeling comfortable and not looking like an absolute MUNTER is fantastic. I realised that I only get this feeling when I am dressed in black (because it is how I feel on the inside!!!!) or have bought a lovely new outfit which does not make me look fat! This rarely happens and black suits me. Ok so I AM wearing bloo sox. Sox are allowed to be different colours. I do agree, but I often think I wear a load of boring crap and am trying to change this! I need more clothes.

I never feel well-dressed but sometimes I feel comfortable and not awful looking and that's OK. I don't like wearing suits.

i really think i wd be at my most comfortable wearing suits BUT only horribly expensive made-to-measure ones, cos off the peg ones are never anything like my shape. i can't see that i'll ever have enough cash to test this one out, though.

Well-dressed doesn't equal happy. If you make the effort to dress well, you may feel more confident, as it will hopefully elicit more positive responses from other people and this may make you happy.

If anything, it may be an *indication* of happiness, i.e. you are in a sufficiently good enough mental state to care about how you present yourself, to yourself or to the world.

You're never fully dressed without a smile.

Please

don't quote from that musical, please.

Felling well dressed can also give you some kind of mental protection if you feel like shit.

damn italic maddness

Anna, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you have a phobia of little redheaded orphans then Anna? I think Annie is quite right though as I am generally scowling I am not sure what this says about me.

Emma, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

You go through primary school with red curly hair and a name that starts with Ann - my hatred of Annie started young, it's all ground in now. Blah.

Anna, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But she got adopted by an incredibly rich bloke! You should've been the envy of all your little chums.

Dressing well...not as important as dressing *comfortably.* I think for me the combination has to be clean clothes and being freshly showered and shaved -- an instant way to feel positive about the day.

Emma: So, if you're naked and smiling, you're fully dressed? Maybe I should try that out in public sometime.

Christine "Green Leafy" Indigo, Monday, 27 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
