the google car was probably burnt at the stake in my village.

Jarlrmai, Thursday, 16 April 2009 22:40 (seventeen years ago)

Google Maps hasn't gotten into the sticks just yet, but I did find the hospital I was born in:

Looks pretty much the same as it did in 1973. Same little buoy ball in the power lines warning low-flying aircraft.

My first house -- which was really my grandparents' house, since that's where we were staying while my father was in Vietnam -- is not on street view, but here is the hospital where I was born, LakeEast in Painesville, OH.

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:22 (seventeen years ago)

hoos are you telling me you don't remember the address of yr first house? i only lived in mine until i was like 6 but it is burnt into my memory, i think mainly from 'if you get lost, this is where you live'

i like to fart and i am crazy (gbx), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:22 (seventeen years ago)

Totally. I moved out of that house when I was 6, too.

Bianca Jagger (jaymc), Thursday, 16 April 2009 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah when I opened the thread I spent a couple minutes trying to remember and I want to say it was like 1601 something something, but no I can't remember any of my addresses before college honestly.

street view doesn't go up the actual street

but you can see the view from the end of the street.

Have no recollection of this flat, we moved when I was a baby. The view out of the kitchen window was HM Prison Barlinnie and the William Hill was then a Mecca Bingo.

We actually lived in an apartment until I was about 2 mos old, but I have no idea what that address was. Lived in this house from 2 mos to about 4 yrs old. There used to be trees on the left side of the house, and I have no idea why they're gone now. The only things I really remember about that house are the sunken living room and the wood panelling all over the place (ca. 1974-1978).

Johnny Fever, Friday, 17 April 2009 05:49 (seventeen years ago)

i LOVE sunken living rooms.

tza the birthday trees are very cool idea

God, I miss having a forest in my backyard. It is now home to Handywoman Services, Inc. - Chicks that Fix. Awesome.

My parents never owned one, neither will I.

xp: worth noting that "Youngwood" was a bonus when deriving porn names.

^ not the first house I lived in, the first one I ever bought - my actual first house isn't on streetview (and may well have been demolished).

the innermost wee guy (onimo), Friday, 17 April 2009 13:11 (seventeen years ago)

I don't recall the house where I resided as a baby. I haven't forgotten... I just don't know. I do know my parents stayed with my dad's twin sister for a while. And then we moved to this place. Well, it's not the exact place. Google can't seem to come up with the exact spot. Weird!

On the right is the hotel where my friend lived. Superrich family whereas my parents were dirtpoor. Well, my friend's mom was too until she married the owner.

Nowhere I've ever owned, or any of the houses I grew up in, have made it onto streetview yet. In fact, the town I grew up in isn't on Streetview yet.

ailsa, Friday, 17 April 2009 14:16 (seventeen years ago)

same here, and i doubt the private caravan park i grew up in will allow mr google down its lanes.

The place where I lived from about 2 yrs old till I was about 6 is now actually part of a pub/restaurant. The house I loved in from 6 till about 12 is now a night-shop. The house I lived in from about 12 till 17 is now part of a pharmacy.

Ha! My grandparents' house mentioned above IS on Microsoft Live Search "Bird's Eye View," right in the center here. At the time, rather than the rectangular pool at the side of the house, they had a round pool behind the house, but it's otherwise unchanged since 1969. The picture of my parents that I posted here was taken in this front yard.

I knew it was Friar's something so asked my mum the number. She loved to see it as she hadn't been back there for years and was able to follow her old walk to work from here to to the High Street.

Technically I first lived in another that I don't remember for like 18 months but this was where I grew up and my parents still live. That's their 1991 Toyota in the driveway that we usually end up driving around when I go home to visit.
