tv shows that you only started to enjoy after watching them in syndication

or the joys of diminished expectations ~~~~ been watching some king of queens lately its pretty lol when it was on regular tv i def wrote it off on the fat dude/hott chick aspect + thinking it was corny as all hell but the jokes are pretty good nothin clever-clever but if anything tighter/zanier than the usual raymond wacky family stuff

i also basically hated 2.5 men when i watched it that one time on cbs and i still avoid it even tho its on right after himym and i find rule of engagement kind of charming but if i catch it on tbs some saturday afternoon ill lol @ it

oh actually i think the best e.g. of this is middle period simpsons episodes that one might once have used the internet to express displeasure w/ being totally redeemed by a couple of great jokes and you only half-watching cuz your making dinner

Scrubs

ugh scrubs is so awful

i find scrubs is pretty much the opposite of this, i dont think i hated it anywhere near as much till it was in syndication

Simpsons in syndication almost always seems more palatable than when they first air.

i never knew the George Lopez show was so popular

2.5 men is HORRIBLEEEE.

used to hate all of these shows, now i'll sit and watch them sometimes and hate myself instead.

I was enjoying syndicated George Lopez for a lot of last summer, but the moment seems to have passed ... before that I was fond of syndicated episodes of a sitcom I'd never even realized existed (Yes, Dear), which I seem to remember arguing with J4gg3r about on here at some point

Does this happen because they're on daily at odd times when your expectations are lower?

usually great character actors can save middling stuff like a peter boyle or jerry stiller or the parents on that 70s show, but the acting on stuff like george lopez is just so not there at all so you're just left with the reheated 1000 times over plots and the mugging and you just want to die

Yes, Dear was really sharply written and delivered for what it was (trad fam sitcom).

way back when a bad simpsons really fucked up a sunday night, which are already kind of fucked up. i guess i didn't really watch frasier until they were off the air, though i enjoyed the odd show i would see well enough.

I find myself watching CSI:NY now in syndication, eventhough I still don't watch its first run eps on Wednesday nights. Same for Without a Trace and NCIS.

basically lamp's first 2 posts sum it up for me - i always looked at 2.5 men and king of queens with disgust til i had seen every seinfeld rerun 3x and they were other options while i cook dinner. i think the real answer is that i should just start listening to music but you know.
