No, "Sami" is just a common Finnish male name, as far as I know it doesn't have anything to do with the Sami people. When talking about the Sami people we use the word "Saamelaiset", and the Sami language in Finnish is "Saami".

Here's a dude who raps in "Inarinsaami", a dialect of Saami which has only a few hundred native speakers left alive. I think he got some sort cultural award for getting young people interested in a language that's on the verge of dying.
