I'm going to the cheese rolling on Tuesday but should I take part and risk broken limbs or just spectate. My life, your hands.

Stupidly assumed that everyone would know what on earth I was talking about - sorry

Is this what Eric Hobsbawn was talking about when it came to invented traditions?

Hmmm...I think you should just watch...I mean after what happened at the ILE vs Sinister match! :)

Madchen gazes into her crystal ball and sees a man called Tim Hopkins charging after flaming tar barrels...

Two years ago this event became a running (rolling?) joke at my workplace because we happened to catch CNN's coverage of the event.

Run, Little Jonnie, Run (and make sure you run at the ladieees race)

i like this part: At the command (given by the M.C.) of.... 'ONE to be ready!' 'TWO to be steady!' 'THREE to prepare!'......

....the guest 'roller' releases the cheese, which rolls down the hill, The M.C. continues ... ......'and FOUR to be off!'

Must read whole thread before posting.

I have been to this twice i think when I lived in gloucestercestershire, but would NEVER EVER EVER take part, just seeing the pile of squished bodies at the bottom of the (VERY VERY STEEP) hill was enough to put me off, and those are the ones who have drunk COPIOUS amounts before starting. also the hill has collapsed in on itself a bit, so some parts are now completely vertical... don't do it jonny, i like you in one bit rather than several ;)

Just turn ropund and open your mouth. It helps to be prepared with some Bath Olivers.

Unlimited Ideas Using Unwrap & Rollâ„¢ Are Just 5 Easy Steps Away

1. After opening the package, unroll the Fresh Mozzarella sheet (approx. 6" wide by 20" long) onto a clean, dry, smooth surface.
2. With a sharp knife or kitchen shears, slice the sheet in half (6" wide by 10" long), allowing for two different serving ideas.
3. Layer your favorite ingredients. Drain any wet ingredients to create a tighter roll.
4. Roll back up. To prep ahead, wrap rolls in plastic wrap and refrigerate until serving.
5. Slice, serve and enjoy!
