It is a fantastic soap set in t'Yorkshire dales which used to be called Emmerdale Farm until it realised that farms are not sexy so they dumped the farm bit to focus instead on the other intrigues of small northern villages e.g. Lockerbie-style plane crashes, brother /sister / ho lurve triangles, vicar's wives running away on cruise ships etc.
