.. you tell me.

So, last week was the bombshell that "Davina sez the show will end in 2011", and that as BB10 will start on June 4th, and the Daily Star reckons that the show will have a "new Jade" in the "loveable Geordie" etc, and so on..

So, I thought I'd start this thread early, just to see how close the "early list" is, and so on. Past years had the lists a closely guarded secret, with the collusion of the papers who'd have embargoed lists ahead of time. Thesedays, it's more like an open secret.

Mark G, Friday, 15 May 2009 08:31 (sixteen years ago)

Vile people, all of them?

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 May 2009 08:32 (sixteen years ago)

can i just

IS THIS STILL GOING?

FREE DOM AND ETHAN (special guest stars mark bronson), Friday, 15 May 2009 08:37 (sixteen years ago)

Ten years. Christ.

Mark I think you're probably the only person who still cares enough to start a thread months in advance.

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Friday, 15 May 2009 08:45 (sixteen years ago)

(Okay weeks in advance)

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Friday, 15 May 2009 08:46 (sixteen years ago)

Oh I still end up watching it, otherwise I don't see Mrs V for three months.

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 May 2009 08:47 (sixteen years ago)

Well, this is only the second time I've started one more than a week ahead. Granted, the other time was immediately after the previous one had ended, as a funny (although I revived it the year after). The first "painful showoffs" thread...

Mark G, Friday, 15 May 2009 08:51 (sixteen years ago)

you watch big brother

Henry Frog (Frogman Henry), Friday, 15 May 2009 09:22 (sixteen years ago)

Oh I still end up watching it, otherwise I don't see Mrs V for three months.

Is she a contestant?

Enormous Epic (Matt DC), Friday, 15 May 2009 09:47 (sixteen years ago)

"Davina sez the show will end in 2011",

I was under the impression that she only said this because her contract expires after BB 2010?

snoball, Friday, 15 May 2009 10:02 (sixteen years ago)

so, she either gets a one-year 'golden watch' style payout contract

or, someone else gets the gig for 2011?

Mark G, Friday, 15 May 2009 10:04 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, she's now saying that she was misquoted. I'm amazed it's still going - what were the ratings like for the last season?

Ned Trifle II, Friday, 15 May 2009 10:10 (sixteen years ago)

It's in the Sun link. Summary: Low.

Mark G, Friday, 15 May 2009 10:13 (sixteen years ago)

Is she a contestant?

Dear god it feels like it sometimes.

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 May 2009 10:20 (sixteen years ago)

(xpost) OTOH, probably higher than what C4/E4 would get broadcasting anything else during the summer.

snoball, Friday, 15 May 2009 10:25 (sixteen years ago)

They should try a series featuring E4 presenters finding out about medieval torture methods at first hand. That'd be a winner.

Dom P's Rusty Nuts (Noodle Vague), Friday, 15 May 2009 10:28 (sixteen years ago)

Right, it starts tomorrow.

Time to state if you're on it, off it,or 'I know I'm going to end up on it despite resisting...'

a lesson i have learnt : if i watch one episode i get hooked and end up losing hours of my life.
last year i resisted the temptation and got through the whole series without any need to see it, lets hope this year i can repeat this.

mark e, Wednesday, 3 June 2009 07:53 (sixteen years ago)

I'm on it. My wife's due to give birth round about the end of July but that'll be a minor inconvenience.

nate woolls, Wednesday, 3 June 2009 07:59 (sixteen years ago)

Right, it starts tomorrow.

Really? I'm off it, I think. I just can't be arsed.

Tits Bramble (Matt DC), Wednesday, 3 June 2009 08:42 (sixteen years ago)

I'm so on this. That house pic looks boss. It's like the space station in NOLF.

snoball, Wednesday, 3 June 2009 08:42 (sixteen years ago)

ON IT. For about the first couple of weeks, then vague disinterest until the last two or three weeks when I realise I'm still judging people on their start and have totally missed their "journey". Which I fucking hate as a concept for 'worthy winner' status.

Another former Miss Wales contestant? YAWN.

Big Brother 10 prepares to launch

The 16 contestants taking part in the 10th series of reality TV show Big Brother will be revealed later.

But the eight men and eight women will be in for a shock, as they will spend their first days living in one room and eating cold porridge.

The contestants will have to earn the right to become official housemates and compete for the £100,000 prize - with the failures evicted on Sunday.

The show, hosted by Davina McCall, kicks off at 2100 BST on Channel 4.

Housemates will spend the first few days sleeping on the floor of the living room and will have no access to the kitchen or bathroom.

Big Brother will give them cold porridge to eat each day and if they want to wash, they will have to fill a bathtub in the garden from a cold tap, using a bucket with a hole in it.

'Diverse and cosmopolitan'

Once the hopefuls become official housemates, they will be given access to the rest of the house, with one bedroom for the boys, one for the girls and a bathroom.

Sharon Power, one of the show's executive producers, said the 16 had been in hiding for weeks and had no idea what was in store for them.

"Everybody is expecting to walk into a normal Big Brother house with lots of rooms and furniture and places to go, and they will actually have this one living room and the garden," she said.

No detail has been revealed about the identities of this year's contestants, but show bosses have said the youngest contestant is 18 and the oldest is 40.

Producers have also promised the "most diverse and cosmopolitan" group ever, with contestants drawn from "the four corners of the world".

I have a prior engagement this evening so I'll be missing the opening night - maybe this year I'll finally be able to kick the habit (not likely if I want to be in the same room as my wife over the next few weeks)

Siavash has nobbled his chances of winning, mostly with all this not nomming business, but I think he can still make second. Roddy's knocked the drama queen thing on the head, but it's probably not enough. Sophie's the winner by a clear margin though.

From Digital Spy; Marcus has been released into the wild there too, and is posting:

The air was crisp as a light rain fell... The thunder boomed so malevolently that it threatened to crack the very earth asunder. The ground trembled at his mighty footfall. The mingebags fell to their knees, crying their sanity away in the hope of salvation. For where once the Irrepressible Dark Horse has passed, no one who lives forgets!! The church loomed as the enigmatic and menacing figure drew closer. The heavy door swung open in obedience to the Dark Horse's will as he addressed his fellows in the manner to which they are accustomed -

"Hello you bastards! I'm that c**t from the telly."

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Friday, 4 September 2009 15:34 (sixteen years ago)

He's the new Dominic Diamond!

Mark G, Friday, 4 September 2009 15:35 (sixteen years ago)

During his exit interview Grace Dent said something like "you could present Robot Wars", so that's not far fetched.

the visible spectrum is rainbows (snoball), Friday, 4 September 2009 16:24 (sixteen years ago)

I was freaked out by that; they had Andi Peters there who agreed he had a future in TV and unlike Grace Dent, he could make that happen due to C4 job.

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Friday, 4 September 2009 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

Andi Peters could get Marcus to present a show in return for a custom Andu Peters action figure...

lacoste intolerant (suzy), Friday, 4 September 2009 20:44 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, it seemed like a really unfunny joke.

i laughed muchly upon hearing isaac had gone back to america though.

rodrigo was awesome btw. stunned, STUNNED that he came 5th. esp when charlie has been such a psycho throughout.

two weeks ago i would have said siavash should have won, but even though i think he has every right to feel depressed and fucked over, he's been a drag to watch this week.

teef hoit (stevie), Friday, 4 September 2009 20:48 (sixteen years ago)

I think he's caught a bad cold from running around in a Playboy outfit all week. Also did anyone notice him SHAKING after David was called 3rd?

cozwn, Friday, 4 September 2009 21:35 (sixteen years ago)

i've realised i hate davina. in all of those interviews - every single one - she was like your friend who's not really your friend, who likes to remind you and everyone of the embarrassing thing you did one time, whenever you're out in public. she's like the human embodiment of a copy of Heat magazine.

teef hoit (stevie), Friday, 4 September 2009 22:03 (sixteen years ago)

and the hairstyle was straight out of King Kurt!

Mark G, Friday, 4 September 2009 23:34 (sixteen years ago)

Davina can never seem to keep up with the teleprompter or her earpiece or whatever else is going on. She never really seems to know what she's saying. The producers could probably do a slightly better job of managing her but she is neither entertaining nor a steadying influence on the live component of the show.
