Now I've been to NYC so many times that my fave thing to do now is to just walk around town and see what I stumble into, but I've drawn a blank on what the "first-timer must sees" are these days. The Guggenheim? MOMA? The Momus lunch series?
Anyway, she's not as music-obsessed as the rest of us (but still very literate in pop-culture) so lists of record stores won't be that useful

If there ARE must-sees, she can try the Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art) or the Museum of Radio and Broadcasting. She can get her art groove on at one; her "Rocky and Bullwinkle" fix at the other.
As it's so beautiful out now, picking up a "Time Out New York" mag is a definite must. It gives a fair listing of nearly everything there is to do....and tis just cool to read for the commentary.
