the actual website is here.

the people in the clips veer toward small-town, backwoods and/or toothless. obvious danger of some kind of reality freak-show. but the basic idea is interesting enough. who knows.

80 percent chance that it's freakin' awesome.

Hopefully it inspires him to make a new film (hopefully on GOOD digital cameras this time).

Okay - misheard one already ("How did I beat my wife?" @ 1:35 )

It was while the transexual seven foot tall girlfriend (but she claimed to have two boys) was painting the corridor to the bathroom of her Chatsworth apartment (which reeked of dope and had a signed Britney Spears poster on the wall, along with several knives) according to the Fibonacci sequence - so she claimed - so that a two dimensional camera approach would make the scene she was painting appear to have depth, as a test case for a Disney movie for which she was doing the computer animation, while my girlfriend went for a ride with her boyfriend, Z, a huge fat man as wide as he was tall, on a spectacular chopper with lights that lit up the ground, with a porn director and his porn star girlfriend, that I realised that David Lynch was only recording Americana, and that, really, he was a documentary maker.

Before he left, Z took me aside and said quietly, "I've ordered a pizza. Can you make sure she doesn't freak out when the pizza guy arrives? She gets confused. Just throw the keys down to the guy and when he arrives, give him twenty dollars. Don't leave it up to her. She gets confused".

It is possible Lynch just finds these people interesting right? It doesn't need to be all exploitative etc unless we decide to read it that way.

I can't look away from his hair.

i'm sure he finds them interesting, the question i guess will just be why and how. i think it's a kinda cool idea for someone like lynch, just have to see how it comes out.

four weeks pass...

forgot this was starting, until i saw the other lynch thread revive. there are 4 up so far. i'm tryin to reserve judgment on the whole thing until it gets farther along, but there are some nice moments just in these 4. i think the gay indian is both the most interesting and least successful one to date -- the kicker is unsatisfying and unconvincing. you can tell lynch totally loves the blanding, UT man-boy. the first 2 are more mundane tragic cases, i guess, but there are great heartbreaking glimmers in each.

anyway, something to look forward to every 3 days, i guess.

This is...ok? Yeah, it's fine. A bit too by-the-numbers, I'm not, like, looking forward to new episodes (I mean, they all play exactly like Stanford doc shorts, the only difference being a david lynch introduction (oooh, that makes it eery or something, right?)). It would be so much better if they picked one subject and made an artsy full-length doc about him/her.
