I love that apple-eating fact. Another one from Jeffrey Toobin's book that intrigued me was that Rehnquist had one cigarette a day - just one, every single working day. That seemed to suggest remarkable self-control.

I vote Souter for all-round weirdness, and for being a Republican nominee who wound up the party by tacking liberal.
