There's a thread over on lefora, but as ILX is back up I thought I'd start one here.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8077329.stm

Didn't know he was Irish!

Amazing contrast between the audience and the gown here. Vegas transported to England. RIP.

To be honest, I don't know much about him, but I don't think he can't be held responsible for Paul O'Grady so RIP

I don't know much about him except that he inspired one of the coolest comic book characters ever. Sounds like he was an awesome fellow, rest in peace.

Apparently, he disliked being called a 'drag act' and preferred a 'comedian in a dress'.
I don't remember him being that funny.
RIP anyways...

I always found him funny - I think Barry Cryer wrote his jokes so he should have been.

What age are you, 60? I mean, when was he ever on TV, after about 1968?
― Dante ... Bruno . Vico .. Passantino (Tom D.), Tuesday, 2 June 2009 13:42 (sixteen years ago)
Depressingly close. I probably watched every Royal Variety performance from 1967 to (about) 1980 and I'm sure he was on those. Plus the Good Old Days was a staple in our house growing up. Never did me any harm.

The Good Old Days *shudder*

How weird was that show?!??!
IT
WAS
VERYYYYY
TINTERNABULATORY..... (whoa....)
― Mark G, Tuesday, 2 June 2009 13:55 (sixteen years ago)
Oh yeah, weird but I do remember laughing at it. To think I would be allowed to stay up and watch Monty Pythin one day and then the next be watching The Good Old Days. No wonder I have no critical faculties left.
OK, realising I am only 15 years away from 60 has really brought me down. What with Danny's death as well. I need a stiff drink.

Pythin? That was the posh version.
