With my Palm Pilot, I e-mail my ma, check movie times, store phone numbers, read blogs and Ulysses, write drafts of blog entries, and look up such words as "phalanstery," "reify," and "grisette." I could hug it, it's so adorable. I think I need a date.

There's a webpage on the Palm website which displays all the different ways you can write stuff on your Palm. It even includes a java simulation of the "Graffiti" writing system you're referring -- though the simulation is much harder to manipulate than the real thing.
For more demanding typing chores, you can always opt for the portable keyboard attachment, which, when folded up, is about the size of a walkman.

Or I could have just waited a bit for people to turn up. Never mind.
