Pretty much every guy I've ever been friends with had a crush on Watts. Lea Thompson is probably the prettier one but MSM had was the awesome bff with the drums so . . . yeah.

Lea is just a girl pining to be a housewife.

Although that's the direction this poll will probably take, I didn't necessarily mean for this to be a choice between stuffy Amanda Jones and totally awesome Watts. More about the actresses and their careers in general.

I think the weathering of age is making her look more interesting and more...knowing, somehow. This photo looks like someone who would have a really firm handshake and a southwestern accent and have horses and be awesome. But I never thought she was particularly pretty in Pretty in Pink or that Caroline show, tbh.

my only problem with her in this is that she didn't even learn how to fake playing the drums convincingly. undermines the tomboy-drummer hotness a little for me.

(tougher choice for me would be msm in this vs. ally sheedy in breakfast club. i love john hughes alt-girls.)

Lea Thomson was super foxy wtf?! All the people in this movie were very attractive in the 1980s when it came out and I saw it as a teenager and it somehow has seeped into my middle-aged psyche more than any of the other teen dramas of that era.

Like these 1980s teen movies I know I saw but can barely remember anymore:

Pretty in Pink (Jon Cryer had a really cool outfit that I tried to emulate in my 20s, Molly Ringwald's friend had an awesome wardrobe and apartment)
Sixteen Candles (there was racism against Azns)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (there was a cool car and they cut class)
Risky Business (Tom Cruise irons something while wearing sunglasses)
Breakfast Club (I remember a few things about that one -- there was a butt thing, Ally Sheedy's purse, Judd Nelson's fingerless glove, and a makeover ... and Don't Don't Don't You ... Forget About Me)
Lost Boys (Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Kiefer Sutherland dressed cool, something about frogs)
Weird Science (Oingo Boingo song, a party, the bald guy with the weird face who was also in the original The Hills Have Eyes)
Dirty Dancing (affluent east coast white people, that song with Sylvia calling her loverboy)

I did not see the Teenbeat Heartthrob Ensemble classic, The Outsiders, until I was an adult, so I am not including it above
