CANADA COLAPSES

There is a Palace Coup Paul Martin was fired by the PM for campaigning now their press secrtaries are yelling at each other He is the fiance minister how has been trying to be PM for 9 years His father tried for 25 years There has been such scandal in the last 3 weeks general and rather banal corruption . Things like the defense minister giving the ex a 36.5k contract. Or Paul Martin giving finical contracts worth about 145k to freidns and fund raisers. Although the HRC managed to lose 1 billion dollars.

The great part was the ex would have gotten the contract anyways but they forgot to tender it.

Mr Noodles, Monday, 3 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

This scandal indirectly gives a boost to the popularity of Action Démocratique; Mario Dumont. To many separatists, he's the last hope...

The Hegemon, Monday, 3 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

When is the fiance minister getting married?

hamish, Monday, 3 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

So this is all it takes for Canada to collapse? Wow.

Brian MacDonald, Monday, 3 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, this and Carolina beating the Maple Leafs.

J Blount, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

for canada to collapse (or disappear).... if everyone in the country moved south about 90 kilometres we'd all be americans..... or failing that a slight adjustment of US borders would solve the problem.

at any rate, the government is in a definite crisis now. the heat is on the PM and the hounds are sniffing scandal around every corner of the House.... and his leadership is being called into question. first and foremost, chretien's finance minister is well-liked, diplomatic, well- spoken and he has corrected the mistakes of former finance ministers (including chretien). second, paul martin is no friend of chretien.... they just work together. remember the leadership race back in 1990? who finished 2nd?

martin is definitely not a youngster but he is definitely capable of taking over the reins of leadership of the country. when he assumes the leadership of the liberals (which he likely will next year), his first task should be to clean house (get rid of the likes of copps, tobin, and definitely boudria who are all chretien cronies/clones/yes men/women) and bring more new blood into the party.

that is all.

Well, this and Carolina beating the Maple Leafs.

That was a sad day indeed.

Im wondering if I should statr talking bets on which comes first, Leafs winning the cup or Quebec seperating.

Mr Noodles, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't say Canadian politics are one of my top ten interests, but this obviously caught my eye. I can only endorse such a suggestion.

There is this inability to define Canada in any way except in a comparison to the US (mostly using the words "nice" or "boring"). Also, Canada Post workers are not on strike. Read a newspaper.

The Canadian artic is warming up. In the future we will ship all of the alligators in NY's sewer system up there for their retirement, including full medical benefits.
