How many seasons behind am I if I watched half the post-Medellin disaster season?

season five was a real return to form imo. i almost didn't watch it coz the medellin-era stuff sucked such balls. hope the director-guy from back then (billy somnething?) never returns.

had no idea those last few episodes were regarded by anyone as great or a return to form. kinda hoping i get around to cancelling HBO this summer before i get too sucked into this or True Blood again.

Stellan Skarsgard is a better "director goes crazy" than Rhys Coiro(yes, I had to look up his name).

The problem with season four is that HBO got a syndication deal and, at the last minute, ordered 22 or so episodes instead of 12, and everything turned slapdash. When they stick to 10-12 episodes, they'll do fine.

The problem with season four is that they peaked in season two.

So what did people think? Vince looks oooooooold. And nothing really happened, although driving test was ok and Enzo Ferrari movie could be cool and the Lloyd hazing period has potential.

i am sad that this show is so forgetful about everything interesting. (who. the fuck. cares about sloane?) was very happy to see miss soprano still in the picture.

I used to hate Sloane, but she looked so good in this ep that I welcome her back. Weak premiere though, but as mentioned upthread it may be setting up some good stuff.

I don't understand how this season started, there seems to be so many unanswered questions/plot arcs. We never see what happened with the Great Gatsby (I think the premier is coming up), but now apparently, Vince is at the next level of his career, and they don't really explain how he got it there. The Enzo Ferrari movie sounds cool, but I don't recall them ever talking about it previous to this episode. Am I the only one who's this confused as to what's going on?

Much like Aquaman etc. - it's set after they've successfully filmed it. And presumably he has learnt from Ari's previous advice to picked a film before your last one opens. Obviously they are saying it was filmed in Vince's new professional manner, without any problems or whatever that would make interesting telly. The next level thing just seems to be a more professional Vince, who has taken over Di Caprio's spot as a an actor that used to do blockbusters and is now loved by Scorcese, and if he wants to work with him as a lead, he must be one of the best.

You'd think they would have some stories from filming The Departed they could nick though, even if it was a rubbish film.

That does make sense, I'm curious to see what they do in the next few episodes with all of this.

uh i will also say that i give a fuck about sloan(e?), cuz she's really hot. but this was a really weak episode, especially for a premiere. as usual, just about nothing happened except vince did sweet stuff for being famous (lmao @ LENO appearance), ari is a vaguely funny asshole and E got teased for not being an asshole enough to girls.

Think they could do a season where Vince gets a hot girlfriend > fiance > wife > adopts an African baby > Turtle gets it stoned and Drama teaches it to play golf.

The answer is it hasn't been a good show for a while, and they ran out of plots a while ago and just keep recycling them (and not the absurd ones, just the most mundane ones) over and over.

Y'all are crazy, I liked it. Sure, it was boring and mundane. Sure, Lloyd's initiation is looking like a giant wasted opportunity. Sure, Drama has become a pointless waste of a character. Sure, E looks like a creepy peado and I really don't give a shit about him. Sure, it's illogical that a dude that had to bribe his driving instructor to pass his test about two weeks previous can win in a ferrari race against his own fucking driver is stupid as can be. But it's enjoyable, turn off my brain and stare at pretty things telly that isn't being made enough elsewhere at the moment.

Why has no-one ever just followed Ari's advice? There'd be none of these boring ass women troubles if E and writer-agent-dude just shut the hell up and carried on with their life.

Gotta say it was great to see Drama self-destruct on set, as opposed to it being a story in passing about how he did it on X show or Y film.

Would love it if they did an episode where Vince's sex tape comes out but it's v. unlikely - which is why this season sucks; so much potential, so little actually done with it.

this was the only good episode so far this season. crazy child finally dumped, lloyd & drama sexy fun times and if you pause it at the right time you can see the moment turtle's heart breaks. plus vince was pretty and in the background as per usual.

last couple of episodes have been really good, i think.

Yeah, fucking pointless season. Through all 12 episodes, what actually happened? Did Vince do ANYTHING? What is even the point of him being a character anymore? Not even a love interest or a creative project or anything?

there was a moment at the end of an episode early on where he was in the house alone because everyone had other things to do. i thought that would be the beginning of some kind of character arc but they didn't bother doing anything with it at all.

will definitely watch a few episodes of this, but i'm hoping this will fall into the category of 'shows i have just given up on' like so many others over the past two years.

doubt this season will be any different than the last six, so you'll keep watching

but i've overcome that slavish devotion in recent years, and have finally decided it is okay to just 'give up'. i just hope that happens with entourage.
