ALEX MUST STAY (BB3)

Okay, so I'm over-identiying with the clean freakery, obsessive tidying and the compulsive need to make sure all the tiny details of his life/regime are in place. And I know a lot of his bitching is really petty. But watching Alex last night asking for sparkling mineral water and brown sugar whilst the rest of the 'crew' debated whether twenty bottles of cider was enough was so touching. And I like how he's just too neurotically human to be able to treat the whole thing as a game or a pantomime, even though he knows this is probably the only way to get through it. When he was talking to Jonny in the garden last night and switched seamlessly from agreeing to consider a truce (not likely) to pointing out that he'd left his cigarettes by the chair and back again it was a classic Alex moment. Also "they're just little tears; it's a tiny emotion" must be the most poetic words spoken in the Big Brother house?

Go Alex.

my friend liz: i. this year they are ALL dysfunctional mentalists
mark s: i guess the sane ppl watched the first two BBs and thought no WAY!
mfl: alex has a bulimia thing going, classic symptoms

mark s, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Do women really find Alex attractive?

Though, he is more likeable than bores like PJ and Jonny, both of whom must GO!

BB must really monitor how much Alex eats, surely? He is beginning to look emaciated.

jel --, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

PJ and Jonny are painfully lumpen. Alex is recognisably conventionally winsome, I suppose, which I think I find more offputting than attractive. It was only when he started to turn into some unholy cross between my mother and my (yes, bulimic) ex-friend Magda that my sympathy was piqued. I dunno about the rest of them being mentalists, though: more like aggressively normal, what? There seemed to be a lot of monitoring of peoples' (healthily hetero) sexual responses really early on this year. Only Adele otherwise is bucking this trend, but I'm concerned that she's shot her bolt on revelatory confessions too early and will soon be reduced to confiding in Lee that she 'doesn't always take her make-up off every night' and 'really likes tomatoes'. Or she'll be forced into delusory hyperbole: my head swivels right round' or 'these aren't really my legs'.

Ellie, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They're the most normal group there's been so far. They have made friends and enemies really quickly and generally just do their own thing. I mean look at the likes of Spencer, stays out of things, says nothing, it seems normal to me.

I hate Lee, he's like the new Darren, the guy has no personality whatsoever and just crawls spinelessly in front of the girls all fucking day. I hope Alex stays cos he's so amusing. Anyone see Dom Joly asking Alexs Dad "do you vote conservative"?

Alex has a new tactic now though. He's realised what a sad pitiful fool he came across as with all his moaning, and so he's decided to try and transform himself from stupid alex to nasty alex. At least that way half the people booing him will be because he made that anorexia joke to Kate or whoever.

Ronan, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

normal is the new mentalist

mark s, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BB4: can we shut the fkn PSYCHIATRIC COMMENTATOR EXPERTS up in an ugly chalet together somewhere for eight weeks?

mark s, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark is using capital letters in a classic attempt to cement his image as the "silverback" of the house.

Ronan, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*jumps up and down flailing arms and gnashing teeth*
*ronan presents rump in ritual display of adolescent male submission*

mark s, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I now want a comfier chair in the diary room.

Ronan, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

BB4 will definitely be in space.

jel --, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

With Lance from N'Sync, yes? When he's evicted, can he be thrown out of the space station without a suit?

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

trust Ned to bring gruesome deaths into it!

jel --, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

When will this thread turn into "Pissing In The Shower - Classic Or Dud?". If Alex goes, who will keep the house clean?

Judging the Britishg Public is tricky but I think between Alison (not very offensive) and Sandy (occasionally amusingly offensive but will go soon) I imagine Alex (whinger) will go.

Pete, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Allison must go!

I think there will be a monumental battle between Sandy and Spencer as they are both clearly lords of the sith! Both are keeping quiet, but it seems that Sandy has taken on Alex as his apprentice.

jel --, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I've gone off Spencer now that he's started saying things like "we've all got our bitches".

Andrew L, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

But it's quite entertaining to watch a whinger. Based on entertainment value, I feel Alison may be on her way out.

Alan T, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex is endlessly amusing, especially as they seem to edit out everything he says apart from about weeing in the shower (I think he does this for himself). Alyson must go.

WHY THE FUCK DOES ANYONE LIKE SPENCER?

Graham, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have lost interest at the moment. Can someone make me keen again?

Mark C, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

fecking, sorry FUCKING, e4 interactive is draining my life from me minute by minute. paradoxically, it has made me less excited by the whole thing. i must go cold turkey and just watch end of week digest. it's the only way.

Alan Trewartha, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw almost no BB at all over the BH weekend! Well I saw Sophie going in and some of BBLB on C4 on Sunday but that's all. I am having withdrawal symptoms.

Emma, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer was fantastic in the first few days but now you have to concede that Lynne had a point about his cockiness. He's getting irritating. Lee on the other hand I am warming to. Alison must go.

Tom, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Tom you are very capricious, I think I have seen ILE posts / text messages from you demanding that everyone in the BB house must go at some point over the last 10 days. I think the last one was Jonny must go. Make your mind up.

Emma, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

In an ideal world they should ALL go and be replaced with gorgeous intelligent creatures while we're not looking. But that would be one 'surprise new rule' too far for the producers, I fear.

Archel, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

What sort of rub TV would that make, beautiful people sitting round having intelligent conversation? It would be boring as hell (not to mention making us mortals feel inadequate), what I want is mediocre people sitting round bitching & arguing about petty things.

Emma, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

emma do you like the 11 o'clock show?

mark s, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha no. Amongst other things it is past my bed time.

Emma, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

[she has to start early to climb up all those matresses]

Graham, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan T, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Very nice but also rather baffling. Did you mean to put this on the Queen's handbag thread?

Emma, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hip Hip Hooray on Jade's MAGIKAL birthing day.

Graham, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

jade = only one who is not horrible and/or sinister

mark s, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The housemates are on Sinister? That would explain a lot...

Archel, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have so far not proclaimed that Adele, Lee, or Sandy must go. But if you can't be capricious about Big Brother what can you be capricious about eh?

Tom, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They should have a robotic big brother. It could go around talking to the housemates.

jel --, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Bring Metal Mickey out of retirement now!

Pete, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Can you be capricious about Caprice?

Archel, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Further review shows that Adele looks like an alien, but she's still somewhat coute.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Er, "cute".

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Please God let stubbly Alison get evicted just to see her vile kickboxing buddy have another crying fit - a truly wonderful moment. ALEX MUST STAY.

Johnathan, Wednesday, 5 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
