This was discussed briefly last night, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Anyone (apart from Nathan Barley of course) been? Any good?

I went two weekends ago when I was in t'London for t'visit our kid. (He says flaunting his provincialness). It was pretty well done on the whole, with tonnes to do. A lot of omissions, but it's so subjective a thing I guess most people would think that and they'd never please anybody - for instance, why no Gauntlet, not even in the themed 'Co-operative play' section? Spent a happy hour in the classic arcade section - Pac Man, Galaxians, Defender and Missile Command (mmm... tracker ball...) really pleased me. Shame that Phoenix was only represented through a MAME. Some bloke in a Kangol coat played Asteroids for an hour despite the 'Please respect the others and only play for five minutes' notices. grrrrrrrrr....... The consoles/classic machines were pretty fine, though the choice of games was a bit odd - why Ant Attack on the speccy and not Knightlore or Jet Set Willy? More later. I have to do some work.

If Sid Meier's Pirates isn't there, then it's a fruitless exhibition.

COS ANT ATTACK IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER MADE. well almost. it was ages before knight lore or even manic miner. agreed that manic miner v important, and knight lore was the more popular 3d adventure (and much slicker), but ANT ATTACK was (breathe in) revolutionary. i may be exaggerating -- but when it came out, it felt like the world had changed. ph34r me, cos i do.

If anybody hasn't already been and wanted to go in the company of royalty, Jeff Minter is planning and excursion to London, taking in the exhibition. I fear only Alan will be impressed by this though.

JEFF MINTER!!! I spent nearly all of last Sunday trying to remember his name.... He's not dead then?

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, I'm impressed. Not quite enough to go especially to stalk Mr Minter, though. Now, if Matthew Smith were going...

R, Friday, 7 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Fuck Smith and Minter, Kevin Toms and Dino Dini are where it's at...

Dom Passantino, Friday, 7 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)
