our upstairs neighbour was playing some weird, droney electro music a couple of weeks - right above our bed, at extremely high volume, the same song, on repeat, ALL NIGHT (not kidding - he must have passed out or left the music on and gone out, but we tried ringing his bell and banging on the ceiling to no avail; eventually had to go sleep in the living to avoid the worst of it)

I never hear anyone else's music but a while back the dude upstairs had an LP left with us that he'd ordered from one of the Eat Skull guys' record shop in Portland (I posted about this in the rolling vinyl thread I think) - going on their online catalogue it was probly something fairly interesting

Our one neighbour seems to be on a Sheryl Crowe kick lately. When we first moved in she played Lily Allen every day.

When I was a kid I had a neighbour who used to keep me awake playing I've Had the Time of My Life really loudly on repeat. Worst offender now plays mainly reggae and only in the day or at weekends, so that's fine.

A cover version of "Wonderful Tonight".My neighbour only puts music on when they get into the jacuzzi.

A Michael Jackson comp - Ben, Say Say Say, and now something that I can't quite hear because, blessedly, our AC kicked on.
The neighbor basically listens to nothing but 80s music, at high volume, all the time when he is home.

My upstairs neighbor, Looch, plays horrible dance music from about 9:00 am until 3:00 pm pretty much every day. It is awful.
If his mom is home she plays Pure Moodz type jams that I am about 50x more ok with tbh.

Downstairs occaisonally play fashion-mag approved indie / dance, but not often. Next door sometimes has Oasis or the like on, but the annoying thing is when he has Singstar parties till 3am. Luckily that's only happened about 3 times in 2 years. As above, I suspect i'm the loud neighbour.

Neighbors out the front window: stuff I like. Earlier today it was Django. I've also heard Sade, Hall and Oates, Coltrane, and Massive Attack at various times.
Neighbors most proximal to me out the back windows: nothing but Tejano music. Nothing ever but Tejano music. Loud Tejano music. It's a nightmare. I thought I'd left that back in Texas. The only thing more horrifying that could move in next door would be my grandmother.

The only time I hear the neighbours' music is when this one young guy carries his speakers outside and turns it up loud so that he can listen to stuff WHILE HE MOWS THE LAWN. It's mostly bonkers Turkish dance pop though, and it's way too merry to get seriously annoyed by.
― Enemy Insects (NickB), Monday, 6 July 2009 08:53 (fifteen years ago) link
turkish dance pop sounds fun.
in my last apartment i had neighbors in the building across the courtyard who would assemble every thursday night and sing what i believe was armenian religious music. they were not that tuneful and they went on for quite a while, so it was a little unpleasant to listen to.
― mollie sugban (get bent), Monday, 6 July 2009 10:49 (fifteen years ago) link
guy behind us has XM or sirius or something and spent a couple of months CRANKING THAT SHIT, like the classic rock stations and soul stations. and he'd sing along, tunelessly and drunk, at top volume. it was kinda funny until 2 in the morning.

Only music I ever hear from my neighbours upstairs is the dude playing acoustic guitar really badly. He's only just started learning it I think, he has someone come over and give him lessons. I wouldn't mind except he tends to bash away on it at midnight/8am. At least when I play my guitar I use the electric and don't plug it in!

One side, diva soul (usually while she's drunk and singing along). Nothing from the other side in ages since the guy learning the accordian moved out.

Ben Harper from the dude upstairs.

I was thinking about this the other day, wondering if my neighbors can hear my music. I try to keep it at a moderate level, but it's hard to tell. I never hear anything from any of my neighbors except for an occasional sneeze coming from upstairs (I think).

Dude upstairs regularly plays o_O tunes like "I Will Always Love You" (the Whitney Houston version, of course) and "The Little Drummer Boy".
On repeat.
Sometimes, he does this at 3 in the morning.
There is a lot of house music and Mexican banda/norte too.

My downstairs neighbors are total frat and sorority yuppies and occasionally they play some really funny stuff that sounds like Mexican Resort Techno. Anyways on the top of their playlist at the moment is some remix of "Kids" by MGMT.
