Jeremy Piven, the Ari Gold of HBO television series "Entourage", stars as Don Ready, a salesman, lover and song stylist. When an ailing local car dealership is on the brink of bankruptcy, they call on this used-car liquidator to turn their Fourth of July sale into a major profitable event. Bringing his ragtag crew along, Ready comes to sell, drink and go to strip clubs. But, little that he knows, he is about to fall in love and find his soul.

piven is the antithesis of "selling point" for me.

If you hate Jeremy Piven AND also have a bit of a masochistic streak, I encourage you to watch Jeremy Piven's Journey of a Lifetime (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806103/), wherein he travels to India and says "namaste" a lot.

The worst four words I have seen in a long, long time.

one month passes...

my friends and I have been obsessed with this movie's awful full title, The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard. at first i thought it was just a tagline in the trailers but the whole thing is in the header of the imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1092633/

a couple times this week i've heard interviews w/ people from the movie and have been keeping tabs on who just says "the goods" and who has to squeeze in the whole thing. Piven just says the former. my friends heard one interview where the director is talking about some book and he's like "...good book, terrible title. like 'thegoodslivehardsellhard'.."

if only apatow had directed this, it could have been an hour longer

I dislike Jeremy Piven and this looks awful and the main perk I can find in all of this is that it seems like precisely the kind of awful film Jeremy Piven should star in.

So, like, all is right with the universe, I guess.

^_^

anyway in the commercial i thought i remembered some pearl harbor jokes followed by the beatdown

omar little, Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

apparently Adam McKay has called this movie "a funny Glengarry Glen Ross"

some dude, Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

i like the idea of Neal Brennan directing a movie full of racially insensitive jokes and then realizing it won't go over nearly as well without Dave Chappelle delivering those jokes for him

some dude, Thursday, 13 August 2009 18:34 (sixteen years ago)

red band trailer version: There's a joke about Pearl Harbor and THE ENEMY, Asian guy starts to look worried, they pile on him, then Piven jumps in and breaks it up. Then tells everyone to get their story straight because they've all just participated in a hate crime.

i mean if you cant laugh at a husky voiced middle aged woman trying to seduce a ten year old who happens to be played by a daily show regular, i dont know what we can laugh at any more.

caek, Sunday, 3 July 2011 11:28 (fourteen years ago)

oh god this film... they really tried hard to make this funny

like every line is a zing/zany non-sequitur, pretty much

there was one line i liked where piven says 'hey, [cultural reference] called, wants his.... ah fuck it'

where ilxor ends and markers begins (history mayne), Sunday, 3 July 2011 11:40 (fourteen years ago)
