VOTE: Winter cold vs. Summer cold

I rarely ever get a cold when it's actually cold outside anymore, but almost routinely get one in July or August in recent years. THAT SUCKS. And I feel it coming on right now.

Which is worse?

winter cold. in the summer you can at least walk around outside and the heat can dry you up. plus your scarf can get boogery in the winter.

come on let's be meaningful together yeah (bug), Sunday, 12 July 2009 14:05 (sixteen years ago)

Summer cold is much worse. In the Winter you're prepared for it, you dress up warmly and stay at home with the heater on drinking tea and doze off early because it's Winter and no one wants to go out and face the cold anyway. Having a cold in the Summer - especially when a real heatwave comes along - is total cognitive dissonance material.

Yeah, it's like 95 degrees outside and I can't breathe!

Both classic!

Voted summer cold thinking this thread was about temperature not sickness. . . I would have voted winter, it seems more appropriate, and a few days lost in winter that you were going to spend indoors anyway isn't all that bad.

How about the kids 'n' parents cold: you toss it around ALL YEAR LONG. This is what makes having two kids awful (all the rest is GREBT btw): your oldest kid brings it home from kindergarden/creche and then you all share in on the fun. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE (not).

Summer cold - the warm weather seems to kick up my immune system and they go away quicker. Also, double bonus - eating spicy food not only clears my sinuses but also forces me to sweat, so it feels like I'm breaking a fever.

My summer cold disappeared quickly this year, and with ease.

I can't believe that summer cold won. I'm just getting over one right now and it's AWFUL. Being sick when it's hot outside is one of the worst feelings ever. At least in winter you can cuddle under a blanket, drink tea and feel sorry for yourself in relative comfort.

(sorry for boob) (ENBB), Sunday, 19 July 2009 02:36 (sixteen years ago)

yea i think it "won" cuz its worse~

My daughter came down with it last week and she came back with a negative covid, so I'm pretty sure that this is just the Return of Summer Colds. We had gone to an unmasked pool party with my wife's coworkers (health care - all vaxxed) last week and she started getting sick that night.
