"windswept gothic italianate" is usually how i describe my style.

"funky L.L. Bean"

yeah, boho chic, especially with some sort of reference to Kate Moss or Sienna Miller, is really fucking annoying.

"urban gothic gent"

more truthfully, "smart casual" (yuk), recently edging towards "preppy"

i prefer 'fun and flirty' to any of these.

Several people have lately compared my look to that of a stewardess in uniform, that gets my vote.

yup, and I always find there to be something weird and aggressive about trying to think of anything you do as "edgy," like you're fighting a brave battle and don't care what the squares think. I don't know what "cool & casual" means beyond "I dunno, I just dress comfortable," which seems mellow and a-okay by me, and I almost kinda like it when people say they are "funky & eclectic," because you're like, cool, you think big jewelry and loud prints are fun, and if you are excited about being funky and eclectic then I'm excited, too, go for it. I guess I could complain a bit about the "timeless" part of "classic & timeless," but whatev.

I think I've found a new uniform, and I don't even know that band's music.

I live in a climate where pantslessness really makes the most sense.

Acrtually in my dreams I am usually wearing a coral-colored sweatshirt long enough to cover my underwear, a bow tie, & a pair of converse hi-tops.

My style is "big fat dweeb" which makes up for in accuracy what it lacks in appeal.

How To Be Fun and Flirty:

Be exciting. Don't be dull! Be energetic, outgoing, and happy! Talk to people you've never met, get in touch with old friends. Be random and spontaneous. Strike up a conversation with your crush. You should rarely ever have a dull moment in your life. You should really shine at parties. Make a scene if you're at a party and then, we get to the next step.
Be entertaining. You should be able to put on a show with your personality. Be bright and funny. Show your talents off to the world! Live your life like a rock star! Smile all the time as if the world was smiling with you.
Be funny. This helps with being exciting and entertaining. Laugh a lot, tell jokes, and smile!
When you are flirting, smile, wink, and be sweet! Use good, and not cheesy pick up lines. Be original, or you'll look like a fool. Flirt a lot, and be fun!
Be yourself! This is the most important! Be yourself when flirting, as well as when you're being fun. Nobody likes a person who is just a clone; especially when they only do it to impress someone.
Look bold. Wear cute make up and wear cute and bright clothes! This will make you stand out. Use contrasting colors like white and black, you'll really pop, then.
Ta da! Now you are bold, and flirty!

"Edgy" is a weird word altogether, even when it's applied to things other than oneself. I try not to use it, I figure there have to be more descriptive choices...but everyone knows what you mean when you say it, so in that sense it's sort of useful. Still...yuck.

I think it could be awesome to be into "surf" if you're from Buffalo. Defying the odds, knowing your chances are slim.

I remember when I first heard of Hollister - the clothing brand - and I had a serious wtf moment, because Hollister is a small hick town adjacent to the one where I grew up, about 20-30 miles from the ocean. It's claim to fame is being the historical inspiration for the movie, The Wild One with Marlon Brando.

Not trying to be sarccy for a change, but um...surf is also a style, you know. Of music, of clothes, of a few different things. I feel silly telling anyone on ILX that, but you do seem to be taking this person very literally.

yup, this. although i like that kinda early '90s a different world afrocentric funky eclecticism, so if you dress like that and describe your style that way, you're forgiven.

I was re-acquainted this weekend with the French expression "bo-bos" (bohemian bourgeois) and an awful ouchy feeling came over me.

I think I like one of the words on each option and dislike the other.
Like: cool, eclectic, hip, classic
Dislike: casual, funky, edgy, timeless.
