I finally quantified why I dislike my job the other day - because I never have to ask questions to further my knowledge, like I had at my past jobs where I'd learn new stuff from smart-ass geeks. In this one I'm the only one who does what I do and I'm alone and have nothing job-related to learn from anyone. I find this depressing.

I chose 'actively loathsome and criminally underpaid', although it does hover closer to bearable at times, thanks solely to a couple of quality people that I work with directly. I still threaten to quit on a near-daily basis.

TBH I've never had a job that I've liked. I've had good volunteer positions and a great internship but all my paying jobs have pretty much sucked. I'm hoping this will change in the very near future though.

I like my current job well enough, in that after all these years I know what I'm doing quite confidently, the work is relatively easy office work, and its in internet tech so hands on internet all day long. It gets terribly boring and rote, though, and I zone out a hell of a lot, and sitting on my arse is ruining my back big time.
