Star senior reporter Kate Major resigned this morning, Thursday, July 23, citing a conflict of interest between her reporting duties for the magazine and her relationship with Jon Gosselin.

Jon Gosselin’s Freedom Fest has taken a majorly bizarre turn.

Look likes the ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8‘ star is officially in bed with the media.

Gosselin was snapped in the Hamptons this week with a new twentysomething blonde by his side, and it wasn’t Deanna Hummel or Hailey Glassman.

It was Kate. Not that Kate. A new one!

Kate Major, a 26-year-old reporter for Star Magazine, claims that she is indeed dating the still-married father of eight.

“I didn’t mean it to happen, it just did,” Major says, who was recently in rehab (allegedly!). “I went to do a story on Jon and ended up falling for him.”

Wonder how Gosselin’s new girlfriend Hailey Glassman feels about this revelation, considering she just gushed over Jon in her first interview.

The oddball connections don’t stop there…one of the ‘Real Housewives’ is also in the mix.

Jill Zarin of the Bravo franchise’s ‘NYC’ contingent was also a guest at a Gosselin-Major-Lohan dinner party Wednesday night, along with her husband Bobby Zarin and Southampton Mayor Mark Epley and his wife Marianne.

“He didn’t seem smitten. They weren’t all over each other. But they’re definitely dating. It came up in conversation. She had her hands on him. But she’s young. This is a girl who is going to want to have babies. Does he really want to go out with another young girl and have kids?” Zarin tells People, who then added, “He seems like a great dad.”

Kate Gosselin, on the other hand, is probably feeling more and more confident about her decision to divorce herself from this mess.

Looks Kate Major isn’t the only Kate that Hailey Glassman is grappling with.

Jon’s wife Kate Gosselin, who has remained amazingly quiet during Jon’s latest humiliation, is said to be livid behind the scenes.

Kate ‘went crazy’ when she heard about Jon’s relationship with Hailey Glassman, whose father is the plastic surgeon who performed Kate’s tummy tuck.

“You make me sick!” Kate allegedly screamed at Hailey.

Hailey, in turn, who we know is full of class, is supposedly eager to confront Kate so she can slam her with the news that “Jon never loved you.”

A possible problem with the plausibility of this report? It’s from Star Magazine–Kate Major’s employer.

So, we finally got the lowdown on the Jon Gosselin/Christian Audigier connection. If you'll recall, the reality show father of eight (minus the reverse-mulleted Kate) was recently spotted in St. Tropez in the company of affable tattoo-wear impresario Christian Audigier. Rumors immediately began to swirl that the Keystone State's most famous family man was planning to launch a line of kids' clothes with Audigier.

"One hundred percent untrue," said an Audigier representative, who told us the company's quite happy with its Ed Hardy kids clothing line, thank you very much.

So why then did Audigier fly Gosselin to the south of France for some face time? In the rep's words: "They have common interests." In ours: It's a kind of blossoming bromance.

She refutes rumors that she's engaged to Gosselin, but admits she's having a great time with her new beau, who recently rented his own bachelor pad in Manhattan. "We're always laughing and joking," gushes Glassman, 22. "We watch movies, play pool and ping pong. We laugh a lot because I beat him at everything."

She adds, "He's a great cook. He cooks roasted veggies with special seasoning and sauces, and he grills pineapple with a butter concoction."

Another perk to dating Gosselin? Her parents approve of the match. "They love him," says Glassman. "They think of him as part of the family. They think things happen for a reason." That acceptance is crucial to Glassman. "The most important thing is if someone fits in with my family ... This is perfect. It just fits."
