And quiches all week.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea, then it made me cry (Jesse), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:05 (fifteen years ago)

my first thought was that this title referenced the old PBS kid's show

brash trash talker (dan m), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:06 (fifteen years ago)

On Saturday, Jeff ate the gator and the duck w/ fois gras, and I ate the Gordon Waller (although it was called something else in the store) and a Polish.

That was the first time I knowingly ate fois gras and it's weird and I don't like it.

$10 "agent processing charges" when I speak with a Bally's agent regarding a refund? Then they have such "extremely high call volume" that they cannot take my call? Grr.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea, then it made me cry (Jesse), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:10 (fifteen years ago)

What brought that on?

brash trash talker (dan m), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:11 (fifteen years ago)

Frustration while being on hold with Bally's. My membership ran out and I'm being billed now, which I do not want.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea, then it made me cry (Jesse), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:12 (fifteen years ago)

bally's: pssh!

That was Nickelodeon

never name anything coolpix (kenan), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

Wait wait wait wait

Bally's charges you $10 to speak to a CSR???

she is writing about love (Jenny), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:20 (fifteen years ago)

They tried to pull that shit with me, was only $5 back when I had to deal with them. One of the many, many, many reasons I hate that company.

3 mods 1 banhammer (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:21 (fifteen years ago)

I think it's a THREAT to encourage you to use their automated system which is WORTHLESS to me. But they said that I *could* incur a $10 "agent processing fee" if I spoke to an agent re my refund.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea, then it made me cry (Jesse), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:22 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, that sounds like what they did to me. I argued my way out of it, but still showed up on my account and had to argue it AGAIN. Hate hate hate Ballys.

3 mods 1 banhammer (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:23 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't mind them b/c I paid 2 years up front (at a significant discount) and then didn't have to deal with them at all except at the facility, which was OK.

At first I thought it was a stupid idea, then it made me cry (Jesse), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:25 (fifteen years ago)

I just had a lot of problems with them automatically renewing my membership and trying to charge me well after I'd made it clear I was done. Just turned into like a 6-month ordeal of fighting with them every month when I'd get a new bill. That and I really hated going to the Ballys on Clybourne when I lived in Bucktown.

3 mods 1 banhammer (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 27 July 2009 21:28 (fifteen years ago)

That was Nickelodeon

Definitely not. We never had cable and it was on channel 13.

ty wikipedia, we're both right

But also Kool-Aid:Obama::Flavor-Aid:Jim Jones. If you'll recall all the THEY'RE DRINKING THE OBAMA KOOLAID stuff during the election.

Flavor-Aid, Kool-Aid whatever you wanker. I meant to say that Obama is going to kill us all using the swine flu vaccine the same way that Jim Jones killed us all with instant powdered drink, with the "drinking the Obama Kool-Aid" as another level to that particular kind of nuttiness. And also when people say "drinking the Obama Kool-Aid" you know they are referencing Jim Jones, right? Or referencing the idea of blindly following a leader who is actively trying to kill you in some secret and seemingly innocuous way.

Jenny, I meant something by what I said, but it is not readily apparent to me now, so there is no reason it should be for you either.

I will go running, tattoos, badgers, and rug burn be damned.

jaymc, Tuesday, 28 July 2009 13:30 (fifteen years ago)

He is an old and previously pretty good friend of mine from my college years, although when we hung out his name was Sc0+t @l3x@nd3r. He was always a little bit of an asshole/conspiracy theorist, but we all were (insert universal sign for smoking a doob here) so he did not stand out. Probably about nine years ago he disappeared into the Pacific Northwest and nobody heard from him for awhile. Then he re-emerged I guess three or four years ago having changed his name to W.N. and wanted to Get the Band Back Together (he was the guitar player in a local jam band with some modest regional success in the early- to mid-90s) and now he is publicly losing his shit on Facebook. Or that's just how he rolls these days, personality-wise, and I'm just noticing it for the first time, since I haven't actually spoken with him in person since, shit, probably like '00.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Tuesday, 28 July 2009 13:41 (fifteen years ago)

Again, his Myspace seems fairly together. Maybe Sc0++ posts there and W01f posts to FB.

Thank you for passing on his updates. Particularly as you won't let me friend him :( or your other kookie friends.

I would like to live around you gals. The only thing missing there is a major grocery store within an easy walk (tell me if I'm wrong). Otherwise that area is sweeeeet. I would make Scott's my place where everyone loved me and greeted me like Norm. And the baristas at Starbucks would do the same. And Rung Petch would have curry waiting for me every day after work.

neutron (n) someone who is not in a gang, a neutral person, usually male

Is that what the Pointer Sisters song is about?

So I'm a neutron?

Jesse, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:33 (fifteen years ago)

well, i think it refers to people who would/could possibly be in gangs, but i guess you're a neutron.

no, i don't think that is what the neutron dance is about but hey i could be wrong

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Friday, 2 October 2009 20:39 (fifteen years ago)

I'm doing the dance where I wave frantically that I'm not a gang member.

I was in Humboldt Park earlier today, and met a man who told me that he had a sixth sense about whether it would rain. And then he shouted something at me about how I'm going to call that information up to a sattelite.

My plan to go to a cubs game yesterday was derailed by sara getting sick. Now I have to wait until next year. Oh well.

On the bright side, I'm heading down to Peoria tomorrow. Of course, I may be getting sick now too, but, c'mon, it's Peoria.

dr. johnson (askance johnson), Monday, 5 October 2009 14:43 (fifteen years ago)

What's in Peoria?

My weekend:

Friday - nap nap nap

Sat. - drive to MI w/ Dan, K8-e, and her beau. Attend Porkapalooza, where I ate various tasty pork treats, including a wonderful bahn mi, and outstanding corn pudding, and some tasty roast pork shoulder. Also good beer. A wonderful, wonderful fall day in the country. Crisp air and smell of leaves in the air, and a nice bonfire. Spent the night at my guy-boss' astoundingly messy lake house.

Sun. - stopped at my gal-boss's house for brunch, which caused an instant coronary blockage. Bloody Marys and hard boiled egg casserole (HBE atop sautéed spinach and onions, topped w/ hollandaise and cheese) and bacon, plus a salad. Then back to Chi where I pulled out my vacuum, bucket, and mop, and fell asleep w/ a cat on my chest.

Excellent weekend.

At C35 - where they had 2 on-call people for every shift, and where others were always willing to pick up a shift - if you called in sick you risked being put on the GM's mental blacklist, meaning that you got shitty sections and got your shifts cut later on.
